1. [TNSUMNER] Alfred MOORE
2. Kenneth Lee
3. I am researching the Alfred MOORE family of Sumner Co. Alfred "left for Texas" ca 1830's-early 40's. He is found in Kaufman Co. TX in 1843. As this is a new line for me, I don't know his parents or dates of vital info while he was in TN. I have found the record of an Alfred MOORE having 20 acres of land situated at Station Camp Creek in 1821. I'm not sure if this "my" Alfred. Alfred was married to Mary GREEN, also from Sumner Co. Again I have no dates. Mary was remarried in 1851 to John H. McCARTY in Kaufman Co. & died there in 1864. I would appreciate any help with finding Alfred's parents & dates pertinent to Alfred's life. Thank you. Darlene Lee

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HiB.2ACI/1594.1624 Message Board Post: Janet, My husband, Bill Whiticker, is related to most of the ancestors you have named. Eunice McCullough Loveall was a sister to Bill's grandfather, Jake McCullough. I remember "Aunt Eunie" and "Uncle Joe" when they lived over in Lindsey Hollow. In fact, I have a bookcase that I bought after Uncle Joe died. I do not know much about the Loveall side because they weren't "blood " except through Aunt Eunie. Her father's full name is Forrest Franklin McCullough, born 8-4-1859; died, 10-4-1945. Her mother was Sarah Belle Griffin, born 12-24-1875; died, 2-14-1947. Frank's father was David McCullough and Frank's mother was Louisa Elizabeth Pryor--they married 6-12-1850. Sarah Belle's parents were Ben Griffin and Betty Raines. I also have some of Aunt Eunie's other siblings, but I can't find the right notebook where I have them listed. What is your father's name? I thought perhaps that I may know him. One of your father's sisters, Rosie Woods, still lives in Sumner Co. and would probably be the best family source. Please let me hear from you! Margaret

2. Loose Lips Sink Ships!! How well I remember those words. My Dad served in WW2 and served 21 years in the Navy. I just got an email from a person telling about a loved one on a ship, giving name of ship etc.... Everyone please remember, we are at war. And even if we were not, Loose lips sink ships!! You just never know who may get your news, who will pass it along or who will intercept it. I know everyone wants to share their news but please do NOT tell us where they are, what ship they are on, where they will go next, etc... It will be enough for now to know that you heard from them and they are well. Thanks for listening!! Please pass this message along!! ________________________________ v~»§«~v~»--=«ø§)V(§ø»=--«~v~»§«~v ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ "Liberty Unites Us All" memorial ribbon www.jelleyjar.com/life/usaribbon.html Let's send Lady Liberty around the world!! ________________________________ v~»§«~v~»--=«ø§)V(§ø»=--«~v~»§«~v ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

1. [TNSUMNER] Allen Cotton
2. Lee & Nita Brown
3. There has been much miss-information published about which Allen Cotton was father of Obadiah (he later changed his name to Overton) Cotton. A reference taken from the book "Cotton Picking" by Peggy Gregory, page 421 states that a Mrs. H. B. Halliburton of Franklin, TN. had a Bible Record of the Children of Allen Cotton (16 in number) & Dr. Overton Cotton was not among them. This Allen Cotton was the son of Capt. Thomas Cotton & Priscilla Knight. This Allen shows on the census reports of Davidson Co. TN in 1830, 1840 & through 1860. While Dr. Overton Cotton & his father Allen show as neighbors in 1830 census of Tuscaloosa Co. Ala. While Overton Cotton & his widowed Mother Mary show in Winston Co.MS. in the 1840 census. I was inquiring whether any one has knowledge as to where a copy of this Bible record might be obtained? Has one been published?

1. [TNSUMNER] Migration from Sumner County, Tenn. to Jefferson County, Ill.
2. To Kathleen Hill (jak.ish@verizon.net), Vernon Lacey (envlacey@bscn.com) I sent basically the same message to both Sumner & Jefferson Counties re: King, Owens, Overbay, etc. Below are responses from Jeff. County. I could not find the wagon train information on the Marion County, Ill. Genweb site. Please, Donna Davis, would you give me more specific directions.? Thank you for your information, Kathleen & yes I would appreciate the Sumner County marriage records you refer to. You can see from Peg Spencer's message why some of the names don't show on your 1820 Sumner County census - the wagon train left for Jeff. County in 1818 - something I did not know. I believe the King I am searching for is Daniel, father to Shadrack Thomas King. Daniel married Mary Overbay in Jeff. County in 1837 but I do not know whether this was a first marriage. "Rhody Allen and William Maxey organized a wagon train from Sumner Co., TN in 1818 to Jefferson Co., IL. There were forty-one families. This came from family notes and Jefferson County, IL History Books. Here's who I have so far: 1. Rev. Rhody Allen, Lucinda Overby Allen and their children: Margaret, John Wesley and William S. Allen. 2. William Maxey, Mary Emily Allen Maxey, and their children. With their married children, there may have been 21 families. 3. John Wilkerson, Elizabeth Allen Thomas Wilkerson, her Thomas children, and their Wilkerson children. 4. Rev. John Rhodam Allen, Phoebe Wilkerson Allen, and their children. 5. Edward Fergerson/Ferguson, John Fergerson, James Nelson Fergerson, and families. 6. James Johnson, Clarissa Maxey Johnson, and their children. 7. Nathaniel Parker, Mary Emily Maxey, and their children. 8. Owens family, Sarah Owens. 9. John and Sarah Tyler, and their children. 10. James C. Davis 11. Ransom and Charlotte Moss and children. 12. Zadok Casey and family. 13. Thomas Mackey Casey. Anyone who has more to add, please post. Peg Spencer" (goddesscere@yahoo.com) And from Donna Davis, desk79@cis.net (Donna Davis), I received this---- Information on the Allen Wagon train that I read recently on ILMARION-L seems to fit with what you have said here. You may want to check it out. There were 41 families from Sumner Co., TN involved. Donna Subj: Re: [ILJEFFER-L] Re: King, Overbay, Maxey, Owens, Ridgeway Date: 9/25/01 10:27:31 AM Pacific Daylight Time From: Alisaunde@aol.com Reply-to: ILJEFFER-L@rootsweb.com To: ILJEFFER-L@rootsweb.com The Owen Family and the Maxeys were in Halifax, VA prior to TN. The Donoho family also came from Sumner County, TN...I have been hitting my head against a wall for years over the Owens, but have the Overbay's down to INFINITY. I am also looking for Ridgeway info. Seems, two Ridgeway gals married Josh and Peter Owen.
