Hello Bob and List, I haven't proven that all of the McCormacks, who married in Sumner Co. during the 1840s or 50s, were the children of Andrew and Rachaell McCormick/mack. These are the documented children of Andrew 2n and Rachaell Venable McCormack. Andrew III m. Sarah Stone Mary Ann McC. m. Jesse Jackson J. W. (James William 1st) m. F. A. (maiden name unproven) There are other McCormacks who might be the children of Andrew and Rachael, but I haven't proven them. Andrew McCormack 2nd came first to Davidson Co. with his father, Andrew 1st. Andrew 2nd had two brothers, George and Richard Byrn McCormack, living in Davidson Co. See Andrew McCormack 1st will in the TN State Archives or Metro Archives Nashville. Davidson Co. will book # 7 pg. 411. Some of the McCormack relatives lived in Sumner Co and some in Davidson Co. Hello Bob, Glen, and List I've found a James Stewart and his wife Ann (Anny?) in the 1850 Fentress Co. TN census. Is this the same couple who married in Sumner Co. in 1840? I think it might be the same, but I need more proof. I have not found a marriage record for James and Ann Stewart in Fentress Co. This is the only 1850 TN census record for a James and Ann Stewart that I have found. Has anyone found some different information about James and Ann Stewart of Fentress Co. Several years ago I contacted the administrators of the Sumner List about LEONARD B. BAIN who I knew was listed on the 1830 Sumner Co. Census. The reply stated that he was not listed in that particular census. I now have a copy of page 144 of the 1830 Sumner Co. Census which lists LEONARD B. BAIN ninth on the page. He (30-40) and his wife (20-30) had a son (under 5), a son (5-10), and 2 dau. (under 5). I could not locate LEONARD on an 1840 Census anywhere. The 1840 Sumner Co. Census for JOHN R. BAIN (my ancestor) includes 14 children five of whom I know were not his - 2 males (15-20) and 3 females (10-15). These may have been the children of LEONARD B. BAIN and wife. Does anyone have any information about the death of a young couple c1830 in Sumner Co.? Is there any court action assigning the custody of the children of LEONARD B. BAIN to JOHN R. BAIN? JOHN and LEONARD may have been brothers. Richard A. Bain

Will someone kindly do a cemetery lookup for: Malvina CLABORN/CLAIBORNE (various spellings) She would have died after 1910 as she was still listed in that census. Surnames: McCormick Stewart Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HiB.2ACI/415.1457.1.1 Message Board Post: Bob, I've thought for some time that Meridy (Meredith) might be the son of Andrew McCormick of Sumner County. When I first came up with Meredith in my ancestry, I looked through lots of early Tennessee census records and Andrew just seemed the most likely family for Meredith to fit into. Also there is the Stewart/McCormick marriage records which make it seem like this might have been an earlier marriage for Meredith. So I've done lots of digging into Andrew's records, and also looked for stuff on the Stewart family. Like you, I think it's likely that Andrew is Meredith's father. I just haven't found the final really convincing piece of evidence yet. Glen
Sarah Cotton, (born 1783 Hertford co. N.C.)daughter of Capt. Thomas Cotton (Cottontown's name sake) married James Strother (born abt. 1780) and Jame's father was Richard Strother born abt. 1755. Sarah died 1840 Cottontown, Sumner Co., TN Hope this helps a little. You're mostly correct about the folks who are buried in the Strother Mitchell cemetery. There are folks buried there who were not related, by blood or marriage, anyway, to these two fine families. The PARKERs, Claude Parker and Floyd Smith Parker, as an example, lived and worked on the property of the Mitchells. My grandfather, Orval Parker, was born on the Mitchell's farm. Floyd Smith Parker's mother, Jeff GRUBBS SMITH SHERRILL, is also buried there. The folks who now own the property where the cemetery is located have recently made it difficult to get back to the cemetery and do any work - a shame. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Relieruter@aol.com> To: <TNSUMNER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2001 12:27 AM Subject: [TNSUMNER] Strother Family > Hello all Strother reseachers, > > I need your help! > > My gg-grandmother F.
