thanks for the information. Joshua Moss was my ggggrandfather. He was born in Buckingham county VA, married Martha Chastain around 1818 in Richmond and after 1832 (when James was born) they moved to Jackson county TN where they lived for a long time. They were in the 1840 and 1850 census in Jackson county and then they disappeared. Can't find them in 1860 unless that Joshua in sumner county listed with Nancy and Inda (Martha and Juda??????) is my Joshua. Anyway I was thrilled to find them in Sumner county --it was a complete mistake and surprise. Now, I would like to find out what happened to them afterwards and why they moved there. any information would be greatly appreciated. debby james

Was in Illinois by 1859, son who was 11 listed birthplace as Ill on 1870 Cencus. This is also where John list birthplace as TN. John had died by the 1880 census his wife was listed as widow. Her name is listed as Director in 1870 IL Census though I believe her name was Bridgit Branham(Brannon,Brannen). She list place of birth as TN her fathers place of birth as VA and her Mothers as TN. There is also a Holt connection in 1870 and 1880 James Murry had Holt children in the household. In 1880 Ellizabeth and Alice Holt. There father was Allen Holt place of birth SUMNER COUNTY TN.
