I have been listing James' birth year as circa 1780, so, of course, your date of 1777 may be correct. How did you come by that year? James Strother definitely died in 1829. He did not have a will, but his estate was settled in October of 1829, leaving Sally Strother his widow. This Sally Strother, his widow, was not the above Sarah (Cotton) Strother, but was Sally (Stewart) Strother whom James married in 1820 as his second wife. Sarah "Sally" (Cotton) Strother died about 1817.

The LDS files(always suspect)list Silas E Cummings (1830-1913) as the son of Thomas G Cummings and Edith (?). I know this is incorrect as he is the son of Malachi Cummings (1802-1842) and Edith Brookshire who came to Sumner Co about 1840 from Clark County Ky. My question is--Does anyone know who this Thomas G Cummings is and how he got connected to Malachi's family? Malachi Cummings died only a year and some months after arriving in Sumner co, and it appears that Edy Brookshire Cummings did not marry again as she always appears as head of household on the census records. Silas was their oldest son and 12 years old when his father died. Thanks anybody Mecca

Hello and for years I have been searching for a Sarah E. Howell who is my gggrandmother. She was married to James L. Trevathan in Henry county TN in 1848. I was wondering if anyone having census books for the county between her birth year of 1833 in Sumner county and 1850 could please see if any Sarah or a E named Howell show up in your census. Perhaps she went by her middle name that started with a E or was raised up by some other family in the area or was orphaned ? We have never ever been able to find anything on her other than her marriage records. Any information on the Howell family or any related family is most welcome. Thanks so much Robin Holt Mccracken county KY
