We are in the process of restoring the MANDRELL CEMETERY on Clark Hollow Road in Westmoreland TN. and we need all the HELP we can get. If you would like to help physically or financially it would be greatly appreciated. It is such a shame to let the resting place of our ancestors get in such a state as this cemetery was when we first started this. If you can help with this or any cemetery, PLEASE do so. You can contact me at wanderwoman1@netzero.net. THANKS SO MUCH, WANDA

Thanks, Ron for replying. I do not have birthdate or death date for my Rebecca George. Her father is Presley George. Her mother Mary UNK. I'm not the one who said the search engine shows all males with first name George even tho' I noticed that. It would be interesting to know where your Rebecca George fits in. My Rebecca George does not have a daughter named Rebecca. You show your Rebecca's mother as Annie Payne. There are a lot of Paynes that migrated to Clay Co., AR. where my Smart family ended up. They are a collateral line to my Smart family. Let me know if you have anything further. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since we last talked about Cummings Crossroads and the Cummings cemetery there. I was there again today and was wondering what is to happen to the cemetary. I was told by a gentleman who lived near by that the land is to be subdivided and I want to get back with a weed eater and get to the stones and photo them. Does anyone know what is to become of the cemetery? Will there be a public access to it, will they move it? There seemed to be more stones than are listed on the Sumner page. Thanks everyone for all the help you gave in locating it for me. Mecca

I have since learned that Elizabeth was NOT the daughter of James Hart, founder of Hartsville, family stories notwithstanding. She remains a bit of a mystery. I suspect that she is related somehow to James, but I don't know quite how. Did James have a brother who might have been the father of Elizabeth? Her husband's family, the Hadleys, are well documented, but I am rather stuck with the connection with the Harts. Thanks for any clarification you may be able to offer. Charlie

Hi, listers, I'm back in the transcribing business. I am working on transcribing a book that has some fascinating information in it. It lists everything from child support for bastard children to receipts of updated law books to stock brands & marks. There was one thing that jumped out at me, though. There were two records that really seemed out of place. I found only two records that pertained to the "Registration of Free Persons of Colour". One was named John Warren, the other is Jesse Mahan. If anyone is interested in these records, please e-mail me privately. I'm working on a webpage that should be completed and uploaded before the end of the month. The stock marks and brands cover the years 1837-1869 and include a lot of the familiar names--Dance Brown, Squire Brown, Andrew Graves, Alfred Graves, Thomas Creasy, Masons, Carters, Harrisons, Houses, Harpers, etc. These records will be out in a few weeks. Thanks, Sherry
