    2. Hi, Maybe some one on the list will be able to help with my question. I have a court case from 1804 from Sumner County where the plaintiff is under the age of 21. He is being represented in court by his next best friend. I would assume this person would be the childs father or legal guardian. In my case the next best friend is what I have always thought to be the childs brother and this would put an entirely different light on this family. Thanks for any help in clearing this up. Sharon

Valenetine was born in Pittsylvania CO, VA, in 1812. William is listed in the Gallatin County census of 1820. Valentine was married to Lucy Cox on June 2, 1834, in Gallatin county, Ill. Their children were Iva, Edward, James, and Mary. Valentine is buried in Wolf Creek Cemetary in Eldorado, Ill.

    2. This obituary appeared in the Nashville Tennessean on Sunday, 23 January 3006 Gallatin, TN Cross Plains Age 94 January 21 2005, HILL, Ariel "Daisy"-- January 21, 2005. Born in Columbus, MS, she was daughter of the late John Joseph Hill, D.D., PHD, a Presbyterian Minister, and Annie E. Hadley Hill. Besides her parents, a sister, Annie Belle Howard Hill, brothers, John Livingston, and Hadley Alexander Hill, preceded her in death. Cousins survive her. She was a Dental Technician, educated at the University of Memphis. In her youth, she lived in Red Springs, NC, Jackson and Memphis, TN. In 1945, she moved to Miami, FL, where she played the violin in the Miami Symphony Orchestra. In 1983, she moved to Danville, VA and in 2001 to Cross Plains, TN to make her home with cousin, Kenneth C. Thomson, Jr. Her grandfather, Dr. John Livingston Hadley, Jr., of Hadley's Bend, currently Old Hickory, TN, was a surgeon in Forrest's Cavalry Confederate States of America. Her great grandfather, Dr. John Livingston Hadley, Sr., was a founder of the University of Nashville Medical School, currently Vanderbilt Univ! ersity Medical School and was a founder of the TN Antiquarian Society, now called TN Historical Society. In 1844, her other great grandfather, Judge Bowling Embry, co-founded with Tolbert Fanning, Franklin College, which was located on a portion of Nashville's Metro Airport. It was at this school that David Lipscomb was educated. Embry was also Nashville's Postmaster during reconstruction in the late 1860's. She was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church, currently attending Gallatin First Presbyterian Church, a Member of the Colonel Jethro Sumner Chapter USDAR in Gallatin, and a member of the Cross Plains Heritage Commission. She enjoyed painting china and molding glass. Funeral Services, 3 p.m., Sunday, Chapel. Visitation 2 p.m. Sunday prior to service. Interment, Memphis Memorial Park on Monday. Tn.1850.In this house there is Thomas Carter age 62 from N.C. with wife Elizabeth age 59 also from N.C. living with them is Harriet Perry age 33 George Carter age 26,Mildred Carter age 21,Armstrong Carter age 15, and a Thomas Perry age 4.
