    1. Re: [TNSUMNER] Missing Pierce Cemetery
    2. You might want to take a look for the Pierce Cemetery using: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form Using that search system, there are a total of 12 listings for that cemetery name shown for Tennessee. They include Benton (1), Carter (3), Claiborne (1), Dyer (2), Obion (1), Pickett (1), Rhea (1), Rutherford (1), and Sullivan (1) Counties. No listing were identified for Davidson or Sumner Co., Tennessee that would cover the immediate area surrounding Hendersonville, Tennessee. Attempted a parallel search for a Peairs Cemetery in Tennessee but no findings were identified. The only other suggestions that might turn up something would be to contact the Tennessee State Archives in Nashville and ask if they might have historic records of such a cemetery. Also, the historic or genealogy societies of Davidson or Sumner Co., Tennessee might have records that would be helpful. Herb Cunningham

    1. Donohoo: TN, NC, VA:
    2. G. Lee Hearl
    3. Note: I have seen the name "Donohoo" "Donohoe" in Northern Va., Western NC and TN. I understand there was a minor Cherokee Chief named Donoho who was very helpful to the early settlers in western NC. Hugh Herrell, Herrall etc. was involved in a marriage, gave surety I believe, when a Donoho was married (this would have been in Rowan Co., I believe). I wonder if the Herd, Hurd you refer to could have been a mispelling of Herrel, Harold, etc. I am trying to learn more about possible relationship of Donoho and Harroll, Herrell etc. between 1750 and 1800. Thanks, G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.

    1. Missing Pierce Cemetery
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. It has been about a year since I last posted this query...I am still searching. In about 1830 there was a family graveyard called "The Pierce Cemetery" It is said to have been located in Hendersonville 11 miles west of Gallatin, TN. The cemetery is mentioned in the will of one of the sons of Kerrenhappuck and Jonathan Peairs (Peairs)" The next mention, I have found, of this cemetery is .."Stones found in the yard of Waller Pierce, Hendersonville" no date or name of person who saw the stones. One of the burials in this small cemetery that was to have had a stone is "Kerrenhappuck Peairs, born 9-28-1779, died 10-11-1830 buried Pierce Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN, wife of Jonathan (this is on her stone) The spelling on her name is what is listed on the cemetery stone from what the records say" Does anyone on the list have a suggestion as to how I can find if this cemetery still exists...I am sure, if it does, it is on private property somewhere. 3. Jim, What Sanders families have you been researching? I have a Sanders in my line, that I know almost nothing about. She lived in Jackson County but don't know if she was born there. There is a Sanders family in Jackson County that has a person with her name around her age, but is not her. Her name is Mariah (Meriah or Mary) Sanders born around 1820 or so. I have some info to indicate she may have had a sister Sarah (Sally) born in the same time frame. Mariah had her first child around 1839 so imagine she married a year or so before that.
