    1. Cole Family Help
    2. Hi, I am trying to find more information on John Luther Cole. John Luther was born June 3, 1881 and died Dec. 23, 1956. He is buried at Old Fountainhead Cem. He married Sarah Ellis Payne on Nov 12, 1912 in Sumner Co. TN. I found John Luther with his mother Nancy in the 1900 Sumner Co. TN Census. Then I find John Luther and his wife in the 1910 Robertson Co. TN census. Can't find them after that. John's mother was Nancy born 1840. This might be the Nancy buried at Old Beech Cem. In the 1880 Sumner Co. TN Census is a J. W. or R. W. Cole, head, age 38 Nancy C. Cole, wife 39 Millie Cole, dau. age 7 Hiram Cole, son age 4 Stephen Cole, son age 1 Does John Luther belong to the above family? Where did John Luther Cole die? Thanks, Diane Payne

    1. WHITMAN
    2. Is there any record of sawmills in the Gallatin/Sumner County area in the late 1800s? My grandfather, Jere Dock Whitman, worked at a sawmill in that area, and it would be nice if there might be a record of the sawmills - and names of employees, etc. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Fleming, Troutt, Sherron Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HiB.2ACI/2493.2.2 Message Board Post: Since my original post of 24 Jan 2004, I have found some additional information. I now believe that Manerva TROUTT (age 7) in the 1850 Sumner census is the same person listed as Jane FLEMING (age 17) in the 1860 Sumner census in the household of Elizabeth FLEMING, widow of James FLEMING. I also think that she is Minerva Jane FLEMING who married Thornton SHERRON in Sumner County in 1868. I am now working on the theory that Mary TROUTT (age 22) in the 1850 census was the daughter of James FLEMING and the mother of Manerva Jane TROUTT. Did Mary marry a TROUTT? If so, whom? What became of Mary after 1850? Thornton SHERRON and Minerva Jane had the following known children: James Morgan W. SHERRON (1869-1934) Rose Ella SHERRON (1871-1950) Mattie A. SHERRON (1877-1970) Any further information on Mary and Manerva Jane would be greatly appreciated.
