    1. DARNELLS in 1820-1830-1840
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HiB.2ACI/2808 Message Board Post: Am looking for information on all Darnells. There was a Sally Darnell married in 1830 to John Chapman. Bondsman was Washington Darnell. Can anyone identify either one? My gggfather, William Washington Darnell, came from "near Nashville" but don't know exactly where. Since the Washington name is sometimes passed down, perhaps the two could be related. Possibly, my Wm Washington's father was Henry. Thanks.

    2. Please, please all of you who answered my dollar question....would you please post your answers to the List itself. For some reason, the answers did not appear on the list and many, many others are writing me for the answers. I am so sorry, but I cannot keep up with all the requests or forwards, so would everyone please post to the LIST so that everyone can read the answers. I am sorry, I am just not physically able to handle all of these requests and although there is probably a simple way to send all the answers to everyone, I am not a computer whiz....so please help me out and Post the Dollar answers to the List. Thanks so much, Sandra

    1. Dollar question
    2. Sybil Chapman
    3. I have also read that it was a way for the person making the will to leave out children without giving them the argument that when the will was made the maker of the will was sick and feeble in mind and did not intend to omit them. Sounds reasonable to me. Also I believe that some states had laws about disinheriting children. Could be wrong on that one.

    1. Question
    2. I thought someone out there would know the basis behind the following: The wills of my ancestors frequently leave a "dollar" to various relatives or friends. While I understand the value of a dollar was a lot more back then, if I were a child and my father left me a dollar and left my sibling a horse, I would feel a little unloved. So if someone could tell me the reasoning behind the "dollar"...was it a token of love or an insult or was that determined by the receiver? Thanks, Sandra

    3. Can anyone that has researched Sumner County tell me if you have a Eadley (or some other similar sounding name) Campbell who lived in Robertson County during the early 1800's? His wife's name was Jane, with many kids, two of which were Sydney Thomas Campbell, and Peyton Bailie Campbell (leading me to believe they are related to the Sumner County Campbells).
