My great-great-great grandmother, Mary Webb, was born (probably) in the Hickory Tree area of Sullivan County, Tennessee on 2 June 1811. I think her father may have been Jacob Webb, as he appears in the 1830 census with a female in his household of approximatly the correct age. Mary was married about 1835 to Thomas Hopkins, s/o Hickory Tree resident Richard Hopkins. The couple had one daughter, my ancestor Mariah Jane Hopkins there on 30 October 1836. The following year or so Mary, Thomas and thei child returned to Thomas's birthplace in Patrick County, Virginia and remained there the rest of their lives. Mary Webb died there 4 June 1876 of a "Nervous Condition". The names of her other children were: Martha Adeline, Susan Elizabeth, James Madison, Samuel Austin, Joseph H., Lucinda Ann and Margaret Ann Hopkins. I have been unable to connect Mary with any of the Webb families thru public records, I am hoping there may be a researcher out there who has access to a Bible or family histories that may include her.
