Dorton, 71, died at 3 PM Thursday at Holston Valley Community Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Scott County Virginia, he had been a resident of the area for the past 24 years.He had been an employee of Southern Railroad for 28 years and was later employed by Bays Mountain Construction Company retiring after 15 years of service. He is survived by his wife Maxie Flanary Dorton, Kingsport, two daughters Mrs. John (Marie) Godsey, of Kingsport, and Mrs Larry (Wanda) Carter, of Clinchport; three son's Otis R. Dorton and Benny K. Dorton, both of Kingsport and Kent J. Dorton Ridgeway, VA.; one sister Della Davis, Howerton VA, one brother, Lester Dorton, Kingsport: 17 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. Hamiett-Dobson Funeral Home is in Charge.
