Does anybody have access to the Index of Deeds for Sullivan County who could do a look-up for me. I'm looking for any land sold by Samuel Jones between 1820 and 1870. Any help would be appreciated. Hugh Mottern

I cannot help you with deeds, but can tell you that in the census 1850 TN Sullivan County (pg. 44), Samuel Jones, age 73, was married to Gracey Jones (Lucretia Gracilla Thomas Barbre) and living on property she inherited from her previous husband. By 1860, she was living on the same property with her son Peter Jackson Barbre, no Samuel. They were both too old to have had any children.
