Hello. Here is one of the soldiers of Co B whom I have successfully tracked through the four "major" censuses of his lifetime (1850, 1860, 1880, and 1900), as well as the 1890 Veteran's census. Descendants of Nelson Dolan 1 Nelson Dolan b: Abt. 1806 in North Carolina d: Aft. 1880 . +Margaret b: Abt. 1804 in Virginia d: Bef. 1880 ...... 2 Mary Dolan b: Abt. 1833 in TN ...... 2 Sarah Dolan b: Abt. 1835 in TN ...... 2 John N. Dolan was the son of a moderately prosperous farmer of Sullivan Co. His father was worth $800 in both the 1850 and 1860 censuses. John's parents were literate. In the 1850 census he was living very closely to three other soldiers of Co B of the 4th - Thomas Light, Thomas Bray, and Thomas Easley (who rose to the rank of Captain of the Company). In the 1860 census he was living very closely to two soldiers of Co B of the 4th - Thomas Bray and William Owens. John enlisted in Co B of the 4th Tennessee Cavalry (Union) Nov 15, 1862 at Madison, KY. He was promoted to Sgt. After the war John continued to live in Sullivan County. He was a farmer, literate, and owned his farm in the 1900 census. The family name was spelled variously DOLAN and DOLEN in different documents. Hope this information is of help to someone. Thank you so much for this info. Our line was Isaac, Nelson's brother. Thanks again, and please send anything else that comes available.
