Oct. 30, 1904 3- Earnest Clyde YATES, b. Dec. 3, 1906 3- Mary YATES, died shortly after birth 3- Roxie Lee YATES, b. July 17, 1910 3- Nora Virginia YATES, b. Oct. 1, 1912 3- Emory Eugene YATES, b. Jan 15, 1910                                                                              The following is a short history of my Orton-Yates family connections in Tennessee. 1-Noah ORTON married Jane HOWERN and they had 4 children; 2-Carrie Bell ORTON (07/15/1877-08/12/1957), 2-Robert "Chuck" ORTON, 2-Lula ORTON, 2-Wiliam "Bill" ORTON.                                      1-Robert YATES married Sarah CHASE and they had 9 children; 2-Robert Mead YATES, 2-William Hazen YATES (10/12/1871-10/15/1932), 2-Sherden YATES, 2-J. Whitt YATES, 2-Emory YATES, 2-Nora YATES, 2-Laura YATES, 2-Lula YATES, 2-Walter YATES. Of these two families several children married members of the other family. My direct ancestors were 2-William Hazen YATES and 2-Carrie Bell ORTON who were married on 09/15/1893. They had 12 children 3-Noah Franklin YATES b. 11/10/1895, 3-Rosie and Posie YATES died at birth, 3-Lillie Robinson YATES b. 10/29/1899, 3-Bobby YATES died >3yo, 3-James Cecil YATES b. 10/30/1904 3-Earnest Clyde YATES b. 12/03/1906, 3-Mary YATES died shortly after birth, 3-Roxie Lee YATES b. 07/17/1910, 3-Nora Virginia YATES b. 10/01/1912, 3-Emory Eugene YATES b. 01/23/1915, 3-John Lewie YATES b. 06/15/1926. William Hazen's sister Lula Yates married Carrie's brother Bill Orton making her name Lula Orton. Carrie and Bill's sister Lula Orton married William and Lula's brother J. Whitt Yates making her name Lula Yates. Thus, Lula Yates became Lula Orton and Lula Orton became Lula Yates. William "Bill" Orton and Lula Yates had 2 children; Johnie b. 12/20/1909 & Pauline b. 01/15/1910.                J. Whitt Yates and Lula Orton had one child named Bruce(?) or Naoh(?) b. 05/24/1909. J. Whitt's life is confusing. There is another record of him marrying Biddie Baker on 09/21/1897. Was Lula Yates his second wife?                                   One of the two Lula Yates died 05/03/1910. Which one I don't know. I have information about the others ( birth, death, marriage, etc) for anyone interested. I would like to exchange additional information about anyone listed in this letter. Mitchell Yates
