He was born in 1823 in "Indian Territory" (Tennessee). His father must have died within the timeframe of 1823-1832, as his mother, Nancy, married John Giesler, Sr. in 1833 in Carter County, Tennessee and the family later moved to Missouri and was listed in the 1840 Maries County census. I believe John Berry probably had several siblings, but the only one I am aware of is Margaret. I believe these two were the youngest of the children. Their mother, Nancy, was born in 1796. (I was given this date by a descendent of John Giesler). I don't know Nancy's maiden name or her place of birth. Family research indicates that she had a granddaughter, Jeanetta Cross, living with her in Missouri. We have a copy of a letter to Nancy Giesler from a David BARRY (notice change in spelling), who signed the letter, "Your brother until death". If anyone has any information at all on this family, I would appreciate it so much. John Berry has been our brick wall! Thank you. Faye Berry Adkins
