Return to top KINGSPORT - Mary Edna Shipley Adkins, 99, Indian Springs community, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (May 24, 2005) at Cambridge House in Bristol following a long illness. She was born in Sullivan County where she had lived all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Elmer Adkins. Surviving are three nieces, Claudia Bowers and husband George, Bluff City, Almetia Crawford and Savannah Roberts; also several great-nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Roller Cemetery with Michael Lester, chaplain officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
