Foust spent Thursday and Friday night with the sick of W. S Barnes. Rev. S. L. Browning preached at this place last night. J. P. Jones and wife took dinner with E. C. Barnes and family Sunday. Miss Flora Isley returned home yesterday from a week's visit to relatives on Boone's Creek. D. B. Foust and wife spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. A. D. Cartwright. Barnes and four children who have been ill for some time with disease which puzzled the physician for a while, are improving. They have at last decided that they are suffering with yellow jaundice. J. R. Foust and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Hobbs, of Bluff City, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Barnes Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. David Faust, of Blountville, paid a visit Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Cartright. Miss Nita Adams spent Friday night the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Gertrude Ford. Mrs. Susie Foust returned to her home at Bluff City Sunday after spending a week with her sister, Mrs. Flora Barnes. Rev. John B. Rodgers left Friday for his home in Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lynn and F. L. Holt and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Holt. Mrs. Fannie Smith was shopping in Bristol last week. Noah Grills, of Samuel, was a business visitor here Saturday. Walt Barnes has purchased the Stophel farm. The price paid was $5,600. William Ager was a visitor at F. W. Wagener's Sunday. They are first cousins, three times removed. I have been able to document almost all of the descendents except for this particular branch of the family since he moved first to Virginia and then to Tennessee. Charles P. Powell who married Pearl Parks and moved to Kingsport was one of 17 children (I have documented only 15 of them). Do you know the death dates and burial place of Charles P. and Pearl Parks Powell? July 21 - 24, 2005. It is located on County Road 613 just off Hwy 19 and Alt 58, the main highway from Abingdon to Norton. If coming from Gate City, it is off Hwy 71 about 15 miles from Lebanon. The nearest motel is a Super 8 Motel in Lebanon. This is a reunion planned by researchers (descendants of Martin and Catharine Lindamood Statzer) from all over the nation, but locals are welcome. We meet to get acquainted and share information. Some of us get together for dinner at the local cafeteria on Thursday night. We will meet at the community center on Friday morning.
