I'm searching for any BOOHER information but am particularly wondering if anyone knows anything about the child who is named as C. J. BOOHER in Martin BOOHER, Jr.'s Will dated 9 Jun 1866 of Sullivan Co., TN. I believe this may be Christopher/Chrisley/Chesly J. BOOHER who turns up in Overton Co., TN in the 1850 census. I believe Christopher may have been the father of my ggrandmother, Sarah Catharine BOOHER (1848-1923 Clay Co., TN) who married Hiram MAYBERRY/MABRY in 1872, Clay Co., TN. Any and all information on these families would be greatly appreciated and I would be more than happy to share the information I have. Barbara

10/4/99 Hello Fellow Researchers! I have just subscribed to this list (should have a long time ago ! :o) )and I wish to ask if someone has access to Sullivan Co birth records and marriage records. I am looking for a birth record of ELIZA ADELINE JONES, b ~ 1854, d/o SAMUEL JONES and AMANDA SMITH JONES, and/or any children of SAMUEL and AMANDA. Also, would be interested in any marriage records of SEALE/SEAL/SEALS or marriage records of the above during any period. ELIZA is my ggrandmother, but I know very little about her, and nothing about her till she married my ggrandfather. I will be happy to correspond w/anyone who wishes information on my SEALE heritage. I now need to know about the JONES and SMITH :o) part of my heritage. Thank you all so much! Nancy/Illinois

Hi, My ancestor is Christopher Coats and his wife, Elizabeth Barr. They were married in Sullvian Co., TN on 28 June 1811. Christopher died 20 May 1870 in Sullivan Co., TN. He had a brother, William Coats, who married Catherine Barr, the sister of Elizabeth Barr, also of Sullivan Co., TN. If any Sullivan Co., TN researchers have info on this Coats family, I would appreciate hearing from them and exchanging info. Thank you, Sherry

I am new to your Sullivan County rootsweb. My MORRISON line goes back to William MORRISON. He was born in NC in about 1803 (from a Greene County, Tennessee census record). He married Elizabeth (don't know her surname) before 1826. She was born in Virginia (from a Greene County, Tennessee census record). We don't know where William and Elizabeth were married. Their first child was Mary Ann Morrison (my g-grandmother) who was born in 1826 in Greene County, Tennessee. All of William and Elizabeth's children, that I know of, were born in Greene County, Tennessee. I have searched for my William MORRISON (with the above info) in both Rowan County and Iredell County (NC). Didn't find anything that fits the above info. I heard that there were two MORRISON lines in your County. Can anyone in Sullivan County give me a clue or hint? Sure would appreciate it. Would be indebted to you forever. Joe Adams
Can someone tell me exactly where Snapp's Ferry was located in Sullivan County. From some old maps I have seen, it must have been at the Holston River, east of Kingsport. There is a Snapp's Ferry Road which leads Northeast out of Greeneville towards Kingsport, and intersects with the Horton Highway about Fall Branch. The section of the Horton Highway which from Fall Branch to Baileyton was at one time also called the Snapp's Ferry Road. Thanks, Bill McNeese
Hello everyone, I'm searching for information on Teany (Tennie, Teenie, Tena) Shupe (Shoop). She was born in Sullivan Co TN in either 1841 or 1849. She is the daughter of Ferguson and Catherine Lanter Shupe. Ferguson and family are on the 1840 Sullivan Co census with two children under age 5. In 1850 the family is on the Grayson Co VA census and Teany Shupe is listed as age 9 yrs. Her grave marker has 1849 as a birth year. Does anyone have access to birth records for that time period and be willing do do a look up for me? I would be very greatful for any help. Cindy
Would like to buy used "Early Adventurers on Western Waters" vol II, by Kegley. Lonnie
I was in Sullivan County today researching my ancestor, Richard Hopkins, and copied down his land transactions at the Registrar of Deeds Office. Later in Holston Past Finder, Vol 59, pg. 7 I see he was granted 200 in the 1830's, on Holston River and Hatcher's Creek. This evidently didn't get recorded in Blountville, or wasn't indexed or I missed it. The grant was #785. Does any one know where I might obtain a copy? Thanks, Truman Adkins Fieldale, Henry County, Virginia
