    3. Hello fellow listers. I known where my Youngs were in VA, SC and KY, but there are a few years in the time period of about 1770-1790 when I think they were in the Sullivan Co., TN area as I have documentation that my ancestor William's brother John was there. He lived on and owned land on Reedy Creek. Would like to make contact with any descendants. Also need info on what records are available for Sullivan Co. as I know the court house burned in the Civil War. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks a bunch! 1. Ephraim Johnson
    2. Pamela
    3. Hello Listers: You all have been such a wonderful help to me in the past! Thank you. I have recently found out that my ancestor, Ephraim Johnson moved from Shenandoah County to Sullivan County, TN between 1801and 1808. While in Shenandoah County, VA, he married Mary Kingree on July 23, 1795. He purchased land from Mary's brother, Henry Kingree/Kingery, in Sullivan County, TN in 1808. Would anyone with any reference books in the Tennessee/Southwest Virginia area please look up Ephraim Johnson for me? Until today, I haven't been able to find any information on Ephraim and Mary except for their marriage in Shen.Co.! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!! Pamela (Kingree) Moats

    1. Hopkins & Webb
    2. Truman Adkins
    3. My great great great grandfather was Thomas Hopkins, born in Patrick County, Virginia in 1813. He was the son of Richard Hopkins, Jr. and a woman that tradition has called Nancy Burnett, but who was identified in an 1840 affidavit as Polly Burnett. Thomas's mother died shortly after his birth and he was raised by his grandfather, Obediah Burnett. Richard Hopkins was married secondly in 1816 to his late wife's sister, Elizabeth Burnett. Arround 1830 Richard and Elizabeth moved to Washington County, Tennessee and by the mid-1830's settled in the Hickory Tree section of Sullivan County. In addition to Thomas there were three children born in Virginia and six in Tennessee: William H. Hopkins Sarah Hopkins, married a Rains and lived in Carter County, Tennessee. Betsy Hopkins, married John White Peggy Hopkins Ruth Hopkins Mary Hopkins, married Hugh Bowling James E. Hopkins, married (1) Jane Britt and (2) Sarah Muskgrave Obediah Hopkins Moses Hopkins Thomas Hopkins joined his family in Tennessee in the 1830's and married one Mary Webb there about 1835. Mary was born in Tennessee in 1811. Their eldest child, my great great grandmother, Mariah Jane Hopkins, was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee in 1836. Following her birth Thomas, Mary their daughter moved back to Patrick County, Virginia upon the death of Obediah Burnett. Richard and Elizabeth appear in the 1850 and 1860 census in Sullivan County. Richard is said to have died in 1864, at the age of 84. He operated a grist mill on a creek that feeds into the Holston River. Mary Webb died in Patrick County, Virginia in 1876 from "a nervous condition". In her death record her husband listed her parents only as "Webbs". I have never been able to connect her with any of the Webb families in the area, there were two living adjecent to the Hopkins in one census and I feel like she may belong to the Jacob Webb family. Thomas died in 1884 of "gall blatter disease". If anyone has done any research on them I would love to talk with you. Truman Adkins Fieldale, Henry County, Virginia

There were no children, just nieces and nephews. I am presuming he died in Sullivan County. 1) How can I obtain information on his death, including where he is buried? 2) I am presuming she is dead by now, and would be buried at the same cemetery, and I would like to obtain information on her. 1. Civil War PULLUM brothers
    2. Jessie Blalock
    3. Hello. I am trying to determine whether three men were brothers. All evidence point to their being so, but I need some leads to find them in the 1850 census. Three men served in the Civil War regiment 4th Tennessee Cavalry (Union), in Company B. All three were born in Sullivan Co., TN. ANDREW J. PULLUM (b ~1841) enlisted Nov 15, 1861 at Greenville, TN. He was 5'10" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair. GEORGE PULLUM (b ~1842) enlisted Aug 6, 1862 at Cumberland Gap. He was 5'4" tall, fair complexion, black eyes, fair hair. SAMUEL PULLAM (b ~1844) enlisted Aug 16, 1862 at Cumberland Gap. He was 5'6" tall, dark complexion, black eyes, black hair. The 1850 Sullivan Co. census index states that there is a PULLIAM on p 92B of the census, but I could not find any good matches there. I have not yet searched 1860, but my research via FTM CDs indicate that they should be found in a Greene Co., TN household headed by a HILLERY PULLUM. The Family Finder Index also states that there was a HILLERY PULLUM living in Virginia in the 1870 census. In have found both Andrew and Samuel living in Sullivan Co., TN in the 1880 census. They each married a sister of another soldier from the same regiment and company, George CRAWFORD. Samuel shows up as SAMUEL PULLEN, and his family is as follows: 1 Samuel Pullam b: Abt. 1844 in Sullivan Co., Tennessee . +Adaline Crawford b: Abt. 1842 in Tennessee ...... 2 Esther E. Pullam b: Abt. 1868 in Tennessee ...... 2 Rolen F.A. Pullam b: 1870 in Tennessee ...... 2 Mary E. Pullam b: Abt. 1872 in Tennessee ...... 2 Farragut Pullam b: Abt. 1876 in Tennessee ...... 2 Elbridge Pullam b: Abt. 1878 in Tennessee Andrew is listed as ANDREW PULLERN, and his family is as follows: 1 Andrew J. Pullem b: Abt. 1841 in Sullivan Co., Tennessee . +Tabitha Crawford b: Abt. 1834 in Tennessee ...... 2 Margaret Pullem b: Abt. 1867 in Tennessee ...... 2 Susannah Pullem b: Abt. 1869 in Tennessee ...... 2 Andrew J. Pullem b: Abt. 1871 in Tennessee ...... 2 Abraham L. Pullem b: Abt. 1873 in Tennessee ...... 2 Hannah E. Pullem b: Abt. 1875 in Tennessee I have not yet found George in the 1880 census. Any leads on finding this family in the 1850 census would be appreciated. Thanks Jessie Blalock http://users.rootsweb.com/~tn4cav/index.html
