Jim -I found an old message while going through my papers this morning and found one mentioning a Benjamin Brown found on th 1797 Tax List. I realized then that it wasn't a George Brown I had seen on that list, but Benjamin. I still haven't been able to locate my copy of the list, but feel he was probably a brother, or father to my John. I'll keep looking for you, and get back to you as soon as I find it. Thanks for the reply Leslie, I am descended through James Offield and his second wife, Elizabeth Holliday, but am also interested in knowing more of his children with Dianah. I will be glad to share with you on this. Nancy
Since your last name is Offield, I assume you are descended from Diannah Delaney and James Offield. Diannah was the sister of William Thomas Delaney, from whom I am descended. Wm T Delaney married Nancy Rhodes, and he was in TN (then NC) as early as 1780. Other related families are Cowan, Pemberton, and Rutledge. Diannah Delaney's parents were John Delaney and Frances Stanton. This lineage is proved by his will, written 04-28-1800, recorded 1803 in Madison Co VA, in which he mentions his daughter Diannah 'Offil" deceased, and makes bequests to James Offil, and to his grandsons Lewis Offil and John Offil. There are references to John Delaney in Orange Co, Culpeper Co, and Madison Co - beginning in 1741 with him listed as surety on a guardian bond for Mary Stanton (Orange Co VA). The ancestors of John Delaney are: Joseph 'Dulaney' and Mary Lewis Thomas Dulaney and 'first wife' - both wives may have been named Sarah (Thomas was not the son of Gideon de Laune, as is sometimes reported) The ancestors of Mary Lewis are: Zachary Lewis and Mary Walker (father - Thomas Walker) John Lewis and Isabella Miller (father - James Miller) John Lewis and 'Lydia'? The ancestors of Frances Stanton are: Thomas Stanton and ? (Sarah, wife in his will, was not the mother of Frances) Thomas Stanton I have documented references from many deeds, wills, and other records. Note: Zachary Lewis was the "King's Attorney" and is listed in many early court cases of the colonies. His son, Zachary II, followed his father as King's Attorney. Please let me know what you need, and I will share any information. Also, I would like to know more about your branch of the family. leslie countiss foster
Welcome Leslie, I would like to get with you on your Delaney family info. Could you post it on the site for us? Thanks, Nancy Offield
As a new member, I'd like to post my families. I have quite a bit of information and will be glad to share. Countiss, Cowan, Dulaney/Delaney, Rutledge, Susong, Barger, Seneker, Andes, and related families. leslie countiss foster

From: Doris Belt <[email protected]> I am a little late for roll call, but this is the family I am researching in this county Abner, according to LDS, was born 11 April 1773, died 4 Dec 1839 Sullivan Co TN. Is anybody researching this line that have located parents and siblings. I have only possibilities that he had a brother Hiram Hughes (b1793/4) and John Hughes. According to the way I read the changing map of this area, it is one of the only ones that was VA, NC to TN. It would fit all three as they listed their state of birth on the census. Thank you, Doris Belt [email protected] HUGHES, MASSEY, RICHARDSON, TANNER/BROWN
