My Joshua's brother Frederick supposedly died at Lovedale which is now encompassed by Kingsport... Hard to believe my William and your Joshua weren't related! Will keep you in mind as I hit some records for these guys... Dianne

Terry, I don't think you will find a census for 1940 for any county. About the 1840 census I would like to have information from anyone on the Sullivan Co. List who has any information census or land records or church records or anything on a William Sands Sr. and Jr. and their families fron Sullivan and surrounding counties. William Jr. moved there abt. 1820-1830 and his father William Sr. moved there to live with him in 1831 and died there in 1836. Any information about anyone connected would be greatly appreciated. I know Thomas Craft and Susannah Acuff had a daughter Mary. She and her husband, John Hulse, sold land as heirs of Thomas Craft. Again thanks Sally
Hi Lori, My great Aunt Virginia Rebecca Stewart married Adam Cole Booher. He died in 1888. She never remarried. I have figured out some on the information that you sent. I have no idea who Eli Booher parents were. I would say though that he was related to the rest of the Booher in Sullivan Co., in some manner. One of the problems is that you read the children’s names in one census as say Susan, and then Susan gets old enough that she wants to use middle or first name and then shows up on the next census as Laura. Drives me nuts. The only other Camper that shows up in the 1870 census is David and he is not old enough to be Andrew J. Campers father. But he could easily be a brother. Daniel Booher, 31 (From going through the records I have found that when they are transcribed that Daniel can also be transcribed as David. Last summer in the records in TN and found that it is very hard to figure out which name would have been correct one) Eli Booher, 35 I have no idea who his father is. He is shown to be 45 on prior census. David Camper, 50 He is on 1850 census but his wife is Ann on that census. No Camper on 1860 census. Lume Booher, 56 (I show this to be Samuel Booher) James Booher, 30 (He is son of Samuel he marries a Lidia E. (Ellen) McClain or McLane in 1867 she already has two girls and on the 1870 census, but they listed Mary J. & Martha F. as Boohers. Mahala E. would be their dau. Hi Kathy. I would be interested in your Booher line. I have Andrew Jackson Camper b. June 5, 1835 in Botetourt County, VA married Ollie Elizabeth Booher b. Nov 14, 1837. They were married Nov 19 1865 in Sullivan County. On Ollie's death certificate, her parents are listed as Eli and Mahala Booher. On the 1870 Census for Sullivan County, TN they are living next to these families: Daniel Booher, 31 Eli Booher, 35 David Camper, 50 Lume Booher, 56 James Booher, 30 In 1880 they are in Hawkins County and the Andrew Camper family has a Mary McLain, 19, living with them (ward). The family next to them is James Booher, 45. They have a Martha McLain, 18, living with them who is listed as "step-daughter." If you need more details on these families, let me know. Hi List, Do any of you have the surname LATTURE on your tree at all? Or know someone who has or is? I was told lots of LATTURE are in this county. I am trying to find info on my Ggrandmother Bettie ( Elizabeth ) B. LATTURE born in Alabama around 1870. Her headstone says she died 1902 age 32 and was wife of Otis S. ROGERS born in ILL. They lived and died in White County, Ark. Dogwood Township / Griffithville area. Both are buried at Dogwood Cemetery in Griffithville, Ark. I have tried Little Rock, Ark. to get their death certificates and they say they do not have anything on either of them. Even though Otis died in 1940. I just think that its so odd. There is a Dogwood Church on the cemetery and they say they have no records. Please if anyone is able to help me at all I really need you! This is my brick wall, my needle in the hay stack. I can not seem to find anything on there. If you can't help me, but ever come across either of these names, please keep me in mind even if it seems like nothing to you it might be every thing to me. Thank You, Theresa Rogers Griffiths
Pat, Thanks for the offer. I have the LeRoy Reeves book, but I have found a little more on the Acuffs in Virginia - at least Timothy's wife Ann Lea. I you know of anyone who wants this info let me know. My lines in East TN are mainly Hulse & Copass. But into those lines in that area I get Acuff, Craft, Crawford, Easley, Jackson, Jones, and so many others I feel as if they are all family. Having the most trouble finding all of the children of Thomas Craft and Susanna Acuff. If any one could help with that it would be great. Sally
