I thank you for your reply. I had a Sarah Canter and Elizabeth Perrigin living with a Isaac Ornduff in the 1860 Washington County, Va. census and could never figure a connection until now. Still a mystery though for now until I find something on Catherine. Thank you very much for your reply and please keep an eye out for info for me. Connie
Surname Given Name Race Sex Death Date Cause of Death Age Parent's Name Birthplace ORNDUFF CATHARINE W F 6 NOV 1889 TYPHOID FEVER 52 Years Months days JOHN & MARY HELT WASHINGTON CO I found this at ancestory.com and I am very interested in finding any other information on Catherine, like a marriage record. I wish I knew what Ornduff she married and their children. Can anyone help or do a look up? Since this is my only info anything would be appreciated. Many Thanks, Connie in Va.
Does anyone have the 1860 Census of Cannon County, TN or Sharp County, AR? In the Cannon County, TN Census of 1850 we find a Daniel David DunKin, Age 22, His mother was Elizabeth DunKin and was 50 in 1850. She was from Kentucky. We think Daniel's daddy was James V. DunKin. Spelled DunKin/Duncan. Daniel had these brothers and sisters: Owin, Rebecca, Lucinda, Louisa E., Eli, John W., and William A. In 1860 Census of Sharp County, AR we find all of them except the father, James Dunkin. The father, James V. may have died but we cannot find him! Thank you for any information. Pam
Hi Kathy. I found Eli and Mahala Booher on the 1860 Sullivan Co, TN Census. Here is what is listed: Eli Booher, 45 Mahala, 44 Alley, 16 Sam'l, 14 Catherine, 10 William S., 8 Mathew, 3 They are living next to David Camper in 1860. (Maybe he married a Booher too?) I'll try to locate them on the 1850 census next week. I'll let you know if I find anything. I intend to visit Sullivan County to attempt to locate the parents of my g gf John Richardson. He came to Washington, Jefferson and finally Hawkins County. His son was Henry Ellis Richardson 1849 to 1923, Henry and his family moved to Bristol sometime in 1900's after becoming a very successful merchant and farmer in Hawkins County. Henry's living children were Wilbur Hale 1874-1898 (typhoid), William Augustus (Bully) Richardson 1886-1936. Will was an Annapolis graduate and football coach. Alfa Leona Richardson Sells. 1886-1962. My hope is that some place in Bristol or maybe Blountville someone may have written a family history. I have searched many years for John's parents. He was born 1819 near Hillsboro,NC. He married Elizabeth Ellis in 1846. They lived on a large farm in Church Hill. John died in 1909 and Elizabeth died 1899. I know all about the family of John and Elizabeth but have searched for John (1819) parents name for years. Do not know maiden name or given names of either. John (1819) mother b. NC father born MD per 1900 census but NC per 1880 census. Where would be a good place to look for individual family histories in Sullivan County? Thanks, Charles Ray Richardson Raleigh, NC [email protected]

Firstly let me apologize if I have disobeyed protocol to other list owners....since I don't know who all of you are. I hope none of you will mind. Rootsweb has allowed a new list to be created. The list is a combination of all the North Eastern counties of Tennessee. There is such a list in Southeast and it is very active and informative. By creating a list that combines the regions/counties it will allow researchers to have their queries/statements to be broadcast to many others who research the area. The fact that county lines & names changed fairly often after the formation of the state it will eliminate have to do multiple mailings to each county. It will also allow researchers to correspond with others who may have infinate knowledge of the area, it's people and their migrations. Northeast Tennessee was a "hot bed" of families moving southward and westward in the late 1700's to the mid 1800's. The mountainous region of Virginia, geographically, had a passage that was easier to cross so it was natural for settlers to move into the NE Tennessee area. I urge all researchers who are working in this region to subscribe to this list....we can all benefit from it. To subscribe to the list it is just as it is with all the others. [email protected] for the list mode. [email protected] for the digest mode. Type subscribe into the subject line. The normal mailing addy is [email protected] Joyce Gaston Reece [email protected]

Do you know anything about a MATTHEWS who left an estate, in late 1800's in TN, valued at more than $300,000? My ggrandfather's name was William Matthews Berry, born Dec. 25, 1848 in Missouri. His father, John Berry, came from either Sullivan or Carter County, TN. I have a letter written to WILLIAM MATTHEWS BERRY from someone in Tennessee, advising him of the inheritance and telling him that, naturally, he was one of the heirs. Can you cast any light on this for me? I assumed that he was related to the MATTHEWS in some way. Thanks. Faye Adkins [email protected]

Does anyone have any information on Houston PRICE who was born in the 1880s-90 who possibly had a brother named Charlie? Does anyone know who Edna PRICE was--maybe a younger sister or daughter? Somehow an Aunt Delia is connected with these individuals. I'm sorry, but I have nothing else to go on. Ima
Diane, I can't help you on the brothers and sisters of Joshua Miller. Joshua owned land somewhere around Eden's Ridge and Cook's Valley in Kingsport. His son Thomas was born in Indian Springs according to the application for the widow's pension. Marriages I have found for Joshua's children: John married Lucinda ?. Sarah Miller married George Dickson. Thomas Miller married Rhoda Fleenor and then Polly Large. Rebecca Miller married Isaac Fleenor and then Adam Bowery. Matilda Miller married William Horn.
