    1. Jones Families
    2. Hi I suspect that Lucinda Jones, born 1802 and married Daniel Crumley, James Henry Jones, born 1804 and married Elizabeth Feathers, and perhaps John Jones, born 1805 and married ___ Beechboard may be children of Samuel Jones; and that Samuel Jones may be a brother to Thomas Jones, born 1762 and married Susannah Ramsey, but I don't have proof for any of this. Is there anyone doing research on the early Jones families of Sullivan County that can help me? Hugh Mottern

    1. Hewitt / Bowlin
    2. Searching for Rebecca Bowlin who married Malechi Hewitt in Johnson City in 1851, they had a son named David who had a daughter named Elizabeth Hewitt. If anyone is searching the Bowlin name and has a link please e-mail me. If anyone has resources and can find any listings on these names I would be grateful. Searching for a possible Indian connection to these names. Always a verbal history of an Indian, never any proof! Don't care if they are aliens myself, just would like to know more for a cousin of mine. Thanks. Connie

    3. Looking for information about the Collins family of Sullivan County. Amy C. Collins (b. 10/1851 in TN or VA-d. 1925) was married to Elbert H. Glover, both buried in Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Family lore states she was of Irish ancestry and her brother was in the State legislature. Anyone know anything about her or her family? Looking for her parents or siblings. Thanks, Joyce Glover

    2. Jessie Blalock
    3. Hello. Here is one of the soldiers of Co B whom I have successfully tracked through the four "major" censuses of his lifetime (1850, 1860, 1880, and 1900), as well as the 1890 Veteran's census. Descendants of Nelson Dolan 1 Nelson Dolan b: Abt. 1806 in North Carolina d: Aft. 1880 . +Margaret b: Abt. 1804 in Virginia d: Bef. 1880 ...... 2 Mary Dolan b: Abt. 1833 in TN ...... 2 Sarah Dolan b: Abt. 1835 in TN ...... 2 John N. Dolan b: April 1878 in TN .............. 3 Maud Dolan b: June 1882 in TN .............. 3 Earnest Dolan b: April 1890 in TN ...... 2 Samuel Dolan b: Abt. 1841 in TN ...... 2 David Dolan b: Abt. 1845 in TN John N. Dolan was the son of a moderately prosperous farmer of Sullivan Co. His father was worth $800 in both the 1850 and 1860 censuses. John's parents were literate. In the 1850 census he was living very closely to three other soldiers of Co B of the 4th - Thomas Light, Thomas Bray, and Thomas Easley (who rose to the rank of Captain of the Company). In the 1860 census he was living very closely to two soldiers of Co B of the 4th - Thomas Bray and William Owens. John enlisted in Co B of the 4th Tennessee Cavalry (Union) Nov 15, 1862 at Madison, KY. He was promoted to Sgt. After the war John continued to live in Sullivan County. He was a farmer, literate, and owned his farm in the 1900 census. The family name was spelled variously DOLAN and DOLEN in different documents. Hope this information is of help to someone. 2. Hi Joyce I think the father of Kizziah may have been George Mottern who was born 1782 possibly in PA and died before 1850 in Sullivan Co. All the Motterns buried in Chinquapin Cemetery are descendants of George. His father was John Nicholas Mottern, born 3/25/1753 in Bern Twp, Berks Co, PA. He died in 1832 and is buried near Bluff City. Can you give me any more information about Kizziah?
