The first one to say the least had a great many fairy tales in it. There were alot of stories in the book that after 14 years of research and 300 plus interviews with citizens of Sullivan County have proven to be wishful thinking, myths, speculation and family fables.

If so I'm trying to find the parents of Jesse Titsworth 1795 Tn--1868 Illinois. He was the overseer of the Rotherwood Plantation in 1818, on a power of attorney in 1820 and on a land deed as a chain bearer in 1824. He and his wife Nancy (Pryor) and approximately 2 year old daughter Maryann moved from Sullivan Co to Mcminn Co by 1826. Possibly son of either Frederick or Thomas (1763-1853) Tit(t)sworth. In 1900, Samuel CAMPER (possibly your Jacob's father) is in Sullivan County, TN with Charles CRAWFORD, w, m, 27; and wife Ellen R., w, f, 27. Ellen is reported to have been born in VA and both of her parents are born in VA. Also with them is William G. BARE(?), w, m, 6, relationship: son. William is b. in VA. Samuel's relationship is reported to be father-in-law, but I would most likely think this to possibly be Samuel's grand-daughter instead of his daughter. Also, I have 11 children for Samuel, but he only had 10; so I know I have doubled up on a child somewhere. I have lots of information on Samuel and am willing to share if you are interested. I'm very familiar with the TN state cemetery laws, in fact, I carry a copy of them in the trunk of my car. I had visited this cemetery in the spring and found it in wonderful condition with property owners who's main concern was the care of the cemetery. I then had a call that a neighbor had seen someone pulling up stones! I called the sheriff's dept., and they responded, as did a couple of members of our cemetery survey team. We found that the landowner was replacing the sharp-edged fieldstones with flat markers. He took great care, in that he removed the fieldstone and buried it under the flat marker. I was quite relieved to find that we only had a misunderstanding. Now, if all the cemeteries had caring owners like this one, we'd be happy. Again, thanks for responding.

Later her family moved closer to Mary Hughes, and she graduated from there. Rocky Springs School is located on Rocky Springs Road off of Allison Road. I have a picture of the front of the school taken in the late 1970s or early 1980s. It was abandoned at that time, but its condition was pretty good. Debra

Samuel Camper, who I believe is Jacob Camper's father, was married to Elizabeth Crawford, according to info posted by other researchers. Supposedly her father was Charles Crawford, also found in Sullivan county, at least in 1900. I can't place these Crawfords with any of 'my' Crawford families either. As these Crawfords and Campers seem to move between Va and Tenn, and as most of the Campers were from Botetourt Co. Va., and as there are lots of Crawfords from Botetourt and elsewhere in Va., I suspect that is where you will find your Catherine connection rather than in Tennessee -- but that is just my guess as an East Tennessee Crawford researcher. If you do make a connection, I would like to hear about it --- and I am still curious where you found Catherine in 1850 census. I! f I find anything further, I will post. Good luck and best regards - Susan Crawford
