"The National Personnel Records Center does not intend to destroy its paper record holdings. The purpose of any scanning that may be done in the future would be to reduce the need for handling fragile records during the reference process. The Official Military Personnel Files are permanently valuable records that document the essential evidence of military service for the veterans of our nation. It is NARA's responsibility to preserve and protect these records." If the person follows up with more questions beyond this that we cannot answer, then forward them to St. Louis for assistance. If it's an e-mail, notify the researcher that you have forwarded their request to St. Louis for an answer / more info. I hope you find this information helpful.
