Smith died at his home in Indian Mound after a very brief illness. His death was unexpected, having been enjoying his usual good health up to a few hours before the attack came on. He was a Methodist, member of the county court and had lived at Indian Mound the greater part of his life. He was a good citizen and will be missed in his community, is survived by his widow who was Miss Mollie Wilson and four children, Orman, Hobert, Ernest, Floyd and Sallie B.
