Rita, Good puzzle! I had the Tabitha Stancil connection in my notes as well, but no documentation as to why. Perhaps someone with marriage books can check 10 Dec 1844 for a Henry Trinkle marriage to Tabitha _______. First, consider the 1850 census: Henry TRINKLE 31 m w farmer 1000 Tenn Tabitha TRINKLE 31 f w Tenn John MYERS 12 m w Tenn Gustavus STANFILL 7 m w Tenn Ann MILAM 15 f w Tenn Next, consider Will Book F, page 139: George W. Stanfill, administrator of John Stanfill, and John L. McMillan, make bond in Stanfill's protest of the year's provisions to Tabitha Stanfill, widow of John Stanfill; 4 Mar 1844 You could then put together a reasonable theory that Tabitha Trinkle had formerly been married to John Stanfill, and was the mother of Gustavus Stanfill, born about 1842. John Stanfill died in February, 1844, and his widow Tabitha remarried 10 Dec 1844 to Henry Trinkle. Henry Trinkle was the adminstrator of the estate of John Milam - but why? Was he John Milam's son-in-law, married to John's daughter Tabitha? Too bad John Milam didn't leave a will naming Tabitha. So, was there even a Tabitha Stancil, daughter of John & Liddy? Now, I begin to doubt myself, and I'm a Stancil descendant... I had her married to Henry H. Trinkle December 10, 1844, however, I am wondering if this is correct since there is an article in the Stewart County Book Vol I, Page 426-7 that says William Trinkle was the son of Henry H. Trinkle and Tabitha Milam. Any thoughts anyone? Rita ==== TNSTEWAR Mailing List ==== Stewart Co.
