    3. Below is a typed version of an old letter that was written to my grandparents. Does anyone know who the parents are of Mr. Ed Cherry and Daisy Heflin Cherry or any dates for them? They lived across the road from my grandparents for years and years in Stewart County. Due to their aged and feeble condition, they moved to Clarksville. Rita 1962, June 16 Letter postmarked June 6, 1962, Clarksville, Tenn., 4 cent stamp. From: Ed Cherry Apt. 5 D Summet Hite Clarksville, Tenn. To: Mr. and Mrs. Cleavlan Myers (Should be Cleveland) Rt 1, Big Rock, Tenn June 6, 1962 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Myers. As I was thinking of you, thought I could write you a few lines. Shure hope these few lines finds you all feeling better. We are up but don't feel good. We have got through straightening up. Think we have got the most wonderfulest house we have ever had. Everything is so convent, don't have to get out for nothing only to go the grocery and it is only 5 or 6 hundred yards and a concrete walk to it. I would not move back to that old shack this morning for a hundred dollars but still love the neighbors back there. Page 2: Wish we had them all up here with us though. We have had a lot of good people up here to come in to see us. They say they want to be our friends and neighbors and that is our life to be neighbors to every boddy. Frank has been here twice. You all will just half to come and see our home. The city buses is just now passing us. Love to all and God bless you all is our prayer. Signed: Ed and Daisy Cherry. Our address is, Apt. 5 D, Summet Hite, Clarksville, Tenn.

    3. In the 1930 census, Edgar R. and Daisy M. Cherry were living near Big Rock (District 3). He was 46 then, so born about 1884, and she was 31, so born about 1899. Per the 1930 census, his first marriage was at age 21, and hers was at age 24, so I infer that they got married about 1923. Per the Social Security records, Edgar was born July 1, 1883, and died November, 1968 in Clarksville. Edgar R. Cherry's first wife was Eva Morris (1-4-1886/7-10-1922), by whom he had at least 3 children: Frances, Geneva and Mary. Edgar was the son of Emliss E. and Eliza A. (Free) Cherry, which makes him my cousin through both the Cherry and Free lines. Per the 1900 and 1880 censuses, Daisy (Heflin) Cherry was the daughter of Albert Heflin (born about 1845, died by 1900) and Dellie ______ (born about Feb. 1858, died before 1910). Daisy was the youngest of 13 children, per the 1900 census. Hope this helps - and thanks for sharing that sweet letter, Jim -----Original Message----- From: Rita Wall [mailto:wallycrib@comcast.net] Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2004 5:43 PM To: TNSTEWAR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNSTEWAR] Cherry/Heflin/Myers Below is a typed version of an old letter that was written to my grandparents.
