I don't think Stewart County has any marriage records prior to 1838. Even those in the 1838-1848 book have not been available for much of the past. I believe the story I read was that the book was found by someone when they were scouring attics and the like to fill the museum out at the fort, and it was among a box of books someone found in an attic. I'd love to find some of those earlier ones, too. Several of my mysteries could be solved with an earlier book of marriages.
