Heather; I haven't research his line but I have researched his father. I have him as William James Folks b abt 1826 d bef 1900. He was married to Sarah Miles b abt 1838 d bet 1880-1900. She was my 2nd g grand aunt. They were married August 23, 1863 in Stewart County. I'll check my notes to see what else I can find for you.
