I am ready to apply to the DAR but I have one weak link. I need documentation that Martha HOGAN, b 14 Sep 1818 in Stewart Co. TN, d 30 Aug 1873, Ill, is the daughter of John H HOGAN, b 18 Apr 1791, Stewart Co.TN, d 15 Mar 1844, Stewart Co, TN and Nancy MCGREGOR, b 2 Feb 1791, Stewart Co. TN, d 15 Feb 1855, Stewart Co. TN. Martha HOGAN married Tillman Gates RUSSELL (b. 2 Feb 1812 NC, d.23 Mar 1856, Williamson Co. Ill) on 18 Feb 1840, Stewart Co., TN per family records but I have been unable to find the actual marriage record or a will for John H. HOGAN that may list her as an heir. Other children of John and Nancy HOGAN are: William C. b. 1817; Bartlet b. 1820; Edmund H. b. 1821; Jemima b. 1825; Lucy R. b. 1827; Eli Alexander b. 1830; John McGregor b. 1832. I have the information from old family handwritten pages, supposedly written by Martha (HOGAN) RUSSELL, but it is not dated or signed by her and probably will not be acceptable. John H HOGAN is the son of Edmund HOGAN, b 17 Jun 1762, d 22 Feb 1838 in Henry Co., TN. I have his pension record and will, naming John H as one of his sons. And I have documentation of Tillman and Martha's son Christopher Marion RUSSELL's birth, marriage, Civil War records and death. I just don't have what I need to link Martha to John H.
