Doris, I do the web site updates, but for the life of me can't figure out what, if anything, I updated on the site around the 30th, unless it was just my little "200 Years Ago" banner at the top of the main page. Last real update was probably on the 17th, as the Updates page lists. The 1940 census won't be released by the government until 2012 (72 years later is the law). I'm looking forward to it as well! The Stewart County Archives is operated by an all-volunteer staff that works usually 1 day per week (currently, Tuesdays). If you would like to visit the Archives and do research in person, please contact the Staff ahead of time to confirm their upcoming work schedule, by sending an email to stewartcountyarchives@yahoo.com. The Archives is located in the Center for Teaching and Learning (former Dover Elementary building), adjacent to the Stewart County Public Library, on Spring Street about 1/2 mile from the court house.
