My father's name was Frederick Mathis and he grew up in Big Rock. His parents were William Washington Mathis and Sulie Morgan. I don't see them listed in the families involved in this website. He passed away on December 2, 2008 and is buried in Smith Cemetery along with his other brothers and sisters and parents. His sisters were: Cora Mathis Ross, Geneva Mathis Ezell , Blanch Yvonne Mathis Smith and Ruby Mathis Ross. His brothers were Brady Mathis, George Lacy Mathis and James Mathis. My dad (Frederick) lived the majority of his life in California after joining the Marines, fighting in WWII and settling in Santa Ana California. He ws the youngest of his family and sadly, they are all now gone. Are you related to anyone in Stewart County who might remember my Dad? Sincerely, Rosemary Mathis LaBonte Irvine, CA

    3. Hi Jim, I wanted to see if you could get a couple of dates changed on the Stewart County Website in Stewart County Marriages. My grandparents Jordan Outland and Gertrude Knight were married November 15, 1923 instead of 1927. They already had two children by 1927. Also Jordan Outland and his first wife Nina Knight were married in August 1916 instead of October. If you could get these changes made I would appreciate it. Also thank you and all the people who work on the Stewart County Website for all your hard work. Stewart County is by far the best County website that I have been on. Thanks, Dan Outland -----Original Message----- From: tnstewar-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:tnstewar-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jim Long Sent: Sunday, February 21, 2010 2:30 PM To: tnstewar@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNSTEWAR] FW: Mathis Family in Big Rock Forwarding on behalf of a Stewart Co. descendant.
