Melissa, have you been in contact with Sharon Haskings in White Bluff not far from Dickson Tn. She is off the Wrens and the Durhams. Phyllis
Hey, thank you so very much. I would love to know what is in the book. Maybe a little tidbit that is new could help out so much. Does anyone know if there is a male Durham from this line around so we can get a DNA done. That seems to be the way to go with all these dead ends. Phyllis
Phyllis, yes I have spoken to Sharon and we have swapped info. I have been seeing the name ACREE in some of Melissa's postings recently. I just discovered that someone in my ancestry, West BELISLE/BALILES was married in 1848 Stewart Co, TN to Fanny ACREE. Does anyone have these records in their files as well? Melissa, if you do that lookup, could you add the name ACREE to the surnames to find info for? Thanks so much, Ginger.

Ginger, Thank You for all your kind words, they are appreciated. Hardeman County is on the Tennessee/Mississippi boarder and Stewart County is on the other side of Tennessee on the Tennessee/Kentucky border. I will be glad to check for these names for you. Genealogy is my passion and I love helping others find what they are looking for. I will let you know what I find. I am looking for James Reuben Moore and wife Bassie Lee (Phillips) in the 1930 census. I have search in Stewart Co TN, where up until now they have always been, to no avail. I found a family that possibly could be them in Bedford Co TN, dates fit, but names are not the usual. They have possibly one or two children still living with them, Bassie Destine and James Alvis. Has anyone found him in the 1930 census? Any help would be appreciated. Dean
Ginger, My Durham ancestors were from Stewart Co but I dont see any names that ring a bell. I am off of John Durham and Nancy. John is from NC and Nancy is from Ga or so the census in 1850 says so. There maybe other children besides the ones listed on the 1850 census. I am thru their son Robert Durham that married Cynthia Bell. Phyllis
Melissa, wow...you are really on the ball with this genealogy stuff! You must spend HOURS each day on it all, between all the valuable postings you do each day, etc. I imagine your lookups would help Phyllis alot since her families still live in that area. I would be curious to learn what entries there may be, if any, for the surnames BELISLE, BELL, SMITH and DURHAM and whether there is any mention of any DURHAMs leaving TN by 1855 (when my gg grandmother Hannah Elizabeth DURHAM was born in MO). I know my Ira Franklin (Frank) BELISLE left TN sometime between 1850 and 1870, because he married Hannah DURHAM in MO in 1871, but was born in TN (1850). Is Hardeman County anywhere near Houston/Stewart Counties? Ginger and Phyllis, I am not researching the Durham family, although I have a small connection in one of the family lines I am researching with Linnie Belle Durham b. 4-12-1878 in Stewart County and married Wade Ambrose Wren. She is the daughter of Robert and Cynthia Durham. I am actually researching the Wren family. Anyway, what I wanted to tell you both was at the Houston County Library there is a publication on the Durham family. It is not a professionally published book, rather a 3-ring binder that someone put their family research in and donated to the library. I would be happy to do look ups in this source for you if you needed it.
