Rita: Yes this Bert Lane married Jessie Wallace who died in 1931. Curtis and Bert were the sons of Jesse Lane and Ida (Winters) Lane. Am not familiar with J. C. Lane and do not have an Everee McGovern listed in family tree. (But just may have missed her)...Roe Lane -- A Compu-Net Enterprises Customer: http://www.compu.net/

That's a good question. If anyone has any additional information, I sure would be interested. My grandmother's Bible says Zollie's father's name is Jimmy Reynolds and mother Melissa. There is a James Reynolds with sister, Melissa on 1850 Stewart County census also with father James Reynolds, however, I have found nothing so far that tie the families together. Do you have any idea what Felix Zollicofer, Civil War General's, date of birth is and from what part of Tennessee he was from? Maybe he paid Melissa a visit one day????? Robert, That has to be where he got that name!! Even though I have been doing genealogy research for many years, I have just this past month delved into the Civil War aspects of the ancestors I am researching. One funny thing I have found out is my husband and I have each had a 4th great-grandfather that fought at the battle of Fort Donelson (which is about an hour from my house) My ancestor was Oliver Coonrod who fought with the 58th Ohio Infantry with the Union and my husband's ancestor was Andrew Jackson Barker who fought with the 49th Tennessee Infantry with the Confederacy. Andrew Jackson Barker was wounded at the battle of Fort Donelson on February 15, 1862 and I just received papers yesterday that stated Oliver Coonrod was at Fort Donelson on February 15 & 16, 1862. I tease my husband that my ancestor probably shot his!!! Date of Newspaper: Tuesday, February 28, 1956 Page: Front Page Title: "C.E. Curtis Enters Race for Sheriff" I, C.E. CURTIS, am offering myself as a candidate for the office of sheriff of Stewart County. I'm a member of the Cross Creek Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion Post, Dover, veteran of World War II, having served four years in service, two overseas and two in the United States. I'm married and have three children. My wife is the daughter of R. E. MANN of Indian Mound. I pledge an efficient, honest and impartial administration of the duties required by this office. I will be willing at all times to serve the people of Stewart County if elected. I hope you voters, when you go to the polls in August, will check my name over and cast a vote for a veteran of World War II. I'm out on my own on this race and will appreciate your help. I hope if the Lord is willing to see everyone of you before August. Note: There is a photo of Mr. Curtis with this article, but I am unsure how well it will copy.
