Dear Jerree, No, they don't charge anyone. This newspaper is a once weekly newspaper in a very, very small community. The person I spoke with told me that this newspaper is one of the last newspapers in the country that doesn't charge. One place that covers a wide area of Western KY, some IL & TN who's obituaries are FREE and you can search the obit's in the archives for FREE is the Paducah Sun. http://www.paducahsun.com/articles/sections/obits/index.shtml. If you subscribe (ca $30 yr) to can get all the articles. The search is pretty good. It's pretty bad to charge for obituaries since most newspapers charge the families to print them as it is. Dear Jerree, "The Clarksville-Leaf Chronicle" newspaper is a newspaper for Montgomery County, Tennessee. I do know that "The Stewart-Houston Times" newspaper that I post obituaries from DOES NOT charge to put an obituary in the newspaper. I spoke to the person who does obituaries for this newspaper and he told me himself that they have never charged to put obituaries in their newspaper. Diann, Hello, I need to correct myself. I said that none of the obituaries from the latest issue of "The Stewart-Houston Times" was online at "The Clarksville-Leaf Chronicle". I am wrong, 2 of the 11 obituaries in "The Stewart-Houston Times" did appear online at "The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle". Sorry, my mistake. In Christ, Melissa Barker

Wow, I've never had to pay for the ones we have copied...........what are you charging now for the full obits? Diann
Dear Diann, Hello, I don't charge a dime for copies. I ask the person to send me a SASE and a IF they can a donation of any amount to help cover the cost of copies as I do not own a copier or scanner. The donation is never necessary to receive a copy of the obituary, but I am always grateful for the help. Dear Diann, Hello, nice to hear from you again. Yes, I agree the obit of Evie Gibbs Harrison that recently passed away and your husband's obituary was in "The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle", and please let me extend to you and your family my deepest sympathies in their passing. However, not "all" of the recent obituaries that are in "The Stewart-Houston Times" are not located in "The Clarksville-Leaf Chronicle" or their archives. A perfect example is the latest issue of "The Stewart-Houston Times" newspaper dated Tuesday, August 31, 2004. None of the obituaries in this issue appear in "The Clarksville-Leaf Chronicle" online. I am now in the process of posting these obituaries. Even though these two newspaper are "sister" newspapers, there are some major differences on which obituaries are printed where. Also, (I didn't know this until I just checked it out this very minute) did you know that when you do a search on "The Clarksville-Leaf Chronicle" archives there are many obituaries that if you would like a copy you have to pay for it? Yes, I have had many emails about the obituaries and newspaper articles that I am posting. I am sure you have noticed on the mailing list how wonderful people out there are adding and correcting information about the obituary and the person it belongs to. I think that is wonderful and what genealogy research is all about!!!! Hi Melissa, I "see" we meet again......... you're quite right about the archived obits in Clarksville Leaf Chronicle.....but in this case Evie Gibbs Harrison (my double relative) just recently passed away, as did my husband in March. So all the recent obits you posted can be found at the Clarksville Leat Chronicle web site. Are you getting a lot of queries from the old obits you've posted? Diann
