    3. Sue, We are remembering all the folks who are suffering through this horrible and long hurricane. We have friends in Cedar Key and are very worried about them as we cannot get through. Even where we live in Georgia we are beginning to experience rain and gusts of wind around 30 mph an hour with tornado warnings and this is not much in comparison to what Florida is experiencing............you are all in our thoughts and prayers...........Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue Edmunds" <suedmunds@yahoo.com> To: <TNSTEWAR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 06, 2004 6:13 AM Subject: [TNSTEWAR] Frances > We live in Citrus County, Florida. 3. Thanks, Roe, We need a lot more of this kind of posting. I, too, miss Miss Jan--I hope she is doing well. Maybe Cher or someone can give us an update. And maybe Jan would give Cher permission to re-post some of her oldest Rocking postings. No doubt we have lots of newbies who would not have seen them. And maybe Cher would come back to answer an obvious question: Is the old (website?) still operating? Just a call for more ! Chuck Phillips

    3. Received on Internet, Author Unknown: Grandma's Apron The principle of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a holder for removing hot pans from the oven; It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids; and when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled it carried out the hulls. In the fall the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When Dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. It will be a long time befor someone invents something that will replace that "old-time apron" that served so many purposes. REMEMBER THIS!
