    3. Wow this causes goose bumps to me as I am going to try and explain why I think you should be posting childrens obituaries My youngest daughter suffers from a very rare DNA disease, I search and watch on a lot of websites, Stewart County, HUmphreys and Dickson Counties being some of them. For relatives to make them aware of this disease so that maybe medical information can be shared with them and compared. One of the saddest things is to hear that a child has died. THe disease my daughter suffers from may help another family member, not loose a child or a grand child. The childrens obituaries that you post can connect me with a realtive and I might be able to share this medical information with them. As most of the unknown Childrens deaths in my Family state Sudden INfant Death Syndrome or Crib Death... My BLOOD Lines are know known to carry a broken chromysone that effects the central nervous system and the breathing of our children. This is a disease that has new research on it daily. NOt only does it effect the younger, but as we get older this is a weak link that effects the Older ones in my Family lines. SO Please keep posting the obituaries of the young ones. Thank You Tony L. Johnson

    3. Well I can understand your reluctance with that situation that happened to you. I guess I would have to ask if it was in a newspaper or not if it was then she gave up that privacy and became public domain. But you would be the one taking the heat so I support which ever way you decide. Dean -----Original Message----- From: kaitysmom [mailto:kaitysmom@peoplestel.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 5:21 PM To: TNSTEWAR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNSTEWAR] Children's Obituaries Dear Dean, Thank you for you thoughts. Last year I posted an obituary for a young child on a message board that had recently died. The mother ran across the posting and was not happy, to say the least, at the fact it was on a message board. She emailed me and demanded that I have it removed, which I did. Ever since then, I have been very careful not to post such obituaries, gun shy I guess. In Christ, Melissa Barker ==== TNSTEWAR Mailing List ==== Stewart Co. 1. RE: [TNSTEWAR] Children's Obituaries
    2. Dean Egner
    3. Dear Melissa, I know how children's obituaries can become emotional and appreciate your asking. Speaking for myself, if the obituary has been placed in the paper the family has allowed it to be shared with everyone. If it were not published then would I consider it more private and let another date and time reveal the information. Your posts maybe the only way others, friends and family who know the family would even find out about the loss and contact the family to express their sadness in their lost. From a Genealogist view, it could provide a family connection that solve that brick wall so many of us have come across through the years. Humbly and respectfully Dean Egner -----Original Message----- From: kaitysmom [mailto:kaitysmom@peoplestel.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 2:03 PM To: TNSTEWAR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNSTEWAR] Children's Obituaries Hello All, the newest issue of "The Stewart-Houston Times" newspaper came out today and again I am confronted with a dilemma. Ever since I started collecting, posting, and sharing obituaries I am very reluctant to post very recent obituaries for children and especially infants. It's kind of funny, it doesn't bother me to post an obituary of the death of a child or infant from the 1970's or the 1950's and so on, but recent child deaths just seem to be something that I should not post. As a genealogy researcher, I know that this child's death is part of the family history, but I worry that it is not the proper thing to post so I haven't. I thought about if it was my child and what would I want, and to be honest, I don't think it would not bother me, but then again I understand the family history associated and it hasn't happened to me. 2. kaitysmom
    3. Dear Jeannett, Thank you for your note of encouragement, I really appreciate it. The newspaper today had a total of 4 obituaries and 2 of them were for children, one is an infant, died on the same day he was born and the other was 11 months old. I just think it better to leave them alone, but it's nice to hear others opinions and get some confirmation that my thinking is on the right track. In Christ, Melissa Barker

    1. Re: [TNSTEWAR] Children's Obituaries
    2. Melissa, I agree with your reasoning. The older obits would probably have names that we may be researching, however, these recent obits really have the information we all probably already know. You are doing a great job and I, for one, appreciate it.
