I am looking for any information on Austin Buford Barrow b. 9/10/1915 d. 5/1973. He is buried in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Calloway County, KY. Thank you. Suzan
Also, what is LBL-PALS group? Is that a magazine that we send off for?
Does anyone know anything about a Mary Gray born around 1827. Married William Shemwell around 1847. I know she is in the 1850 census and also the later census, but I don't know who her parents were and I don't know where she's buried. Thanks Doris
Pamela; I am intrigued by your post as many of these surnames "tag-on" (Hester, Morris and Shelton) to my own lines. Some of my Miles ancestors married into these families. Do you have more details on dates so I can check my files for your ancestors? For instance: Asa Morris (bef 1823-bef 1850) m1 Harriet Elvira Cherry (abt 1826-aft 1900) on March 20, 1844 Martin Luther Morris (1846-1927) m1 Narcissa Rose Cherry (1849-1906) on December 21, 1867 Lewis [Louis] Henry Morris (1876-1943) m1 Mintie J Stagner (1880-1953) on September 3, 1899. Roy Joseph Morris (1901-1987) m1 Mary Beatrice Hester (1908-1985) abt 1922. what are you trying to tell us, Linda? Does Stewart County have their own Digest Books? How do you get them? And what's so special about Vol. 3, Issue 79. PECANS IN THE CEMETERY On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts. 'One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me,' said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence. Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, 'One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me.' He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along. 'Come here quick,' said the boy, 'you won't believe what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls.' The man said, 'Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk.' When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery. Standing by the fence they heard, 'One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me.' The old man whispered, 'Boy, you've been tellin' me the truth. Let's see if we can see the Lord.' Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord. At last they heard, 'One for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done.' It's said, the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes ahead of the kid on the bike. SMILE, God Loves You.
I didn't pull the page all the way down. Sorry Hope everyone has a Happy Memorial Day and God bless everyone. Dana **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food. (http://food.aol.com/tyler-florence?video=4&?NCID=aolfod00030000000002)

Thank you all for responding to my email. I'm glad you educated me about the Masons and Eastern Star but I still need to know where to get information on a person that has a pension number but is not connected to the Mason's in anyway? I was inquiring about two different people, I'm sorry I didn't make that clear. But I'm going to follow your led on the Eastern Star. Thank you in advance for more information. Doris
You need to supply some dates along with the information you are looking for. I don't know if anyone can help you but I think that would help them look. kevinandpamela <[email protected]> wrote: I am trying to get information on my great grandfather Wilburn Percy Hester and his first wife my great grandmother Julia Ann Shelton. Being a mason, I can tell you, you are close to right. I would start where all the information is kept. That would be, The Grand Lodge of Tennessee, in down town Nashville at 7th and Broad, the number is in the book. When you get an answer, ask to speak with the office of the Eastern Star. The ladies should be able to answer all your questions. Also the pension Number, those records are kept there too. If the pension number is a Masonic widows and orphans pension, if the children were under age there should be a record. These are different departments, within the grand Lodge. Good Luck. By the way, your way into the Eastern Star is to have a mason in the family a Grand father or uncle on either side of the family. ************** Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? If you are not married and your father belonged to the Masons you can join the Eastern Star..Also if your husband is a Mason you can also join...The Rainbow Girls are for the young girls...They were the fun part of growing up...You can get into them by having a friend recommend you or your father is a Mason. Hope this helps you some...And records are hard to come by for them...They dont give information out...Phyllis In a message dated 5/11/2008 10:00:02 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: I can't help you much with Eastern Star except that it is an organization for the wives of men who are/were Masons, and that is probably too general a definition. On Pensions - Revolutionary War pensions? If so If you have a membership to Ancestry.com, you can download a copy of their pension files from there,,,or If you have a membership to Footnote.com, you can download a copy of the records from there (and I think theirs are better copies) pr If your local library has a membership to HeritageQuest, you can go to your library and download a copy of the pension record there, which should be free to you. The Pension folders may have a variety of information in them. One of the most interesting parts will be an account of the pensioner's war service, in his own words. He was usually asked to give his date and place of birth, the place where he entered the service, various battles and other events during his service, whether there is a record of his birth and if so where it is, some places where he has lived since the war. If he died and his widow received a pension, her application should give the date and place of the wedding, her maiden name, and whatever proof she has of his service and of their marriage. Many have more, but these should be in all of them. Good luck. Pension records are wonderful. And if you can locate his final payment voucher, it will list all his children, where they were living at the time of his last payment, and sometimes other delightful information. These records are much harder to locate than the pension records. They are Treasury Records, and mostly have never been microfilmed, much less being put online.
