Gary here's what I have for John Alexander Jenkins b. March 31, 1859 d. ? aft Sept 1923. Married March 20, 1887 Smith Co. to Minerva C. Hall no dates or parents for her. I have never found him in the census with his wife and I don't know what happened to her. Children I have listed are Mary b. ?, Etter b. ?, John Marshall b. ca 1892, & Bell b. 1894. John Marshall Jenkins married Tiny B. Hix and had at least one son John Harlie Jenkins (no dates). John Harlie Jenkins had a son John E. Jenkins who was living in Bowling Green KY in 2000. He contacted me about John Alexander and Minerva Hall Jenkins. He also could not find any info on Minerva or what happen to her. Here are my other notes on John Alexander Jenkins. 1910 Macon Jenkins John 39 b. TN married 23yrs Jenkins Marshal 18 b. TN son Jenkins Bell 16 b. TN dau. Census States married 23 years but does not say widowed and does not list his wife, did she leave him? I don't have 1900 census info for his family. Additional information on John A. Jenkins is found in Pension records of Jefferson Jenkins. John apparently applied for a pension disability in September of 1923. Affidavits attesting to the fact that John was disabled and unable to work and that he had relied on his mother and other family members for support. Martha, his mother, has apparently died before this application. John apparently had this condition from a childhood. Affidavit from Dr. Frank B. Clark stating John was suffering from "ankylosis of the spine and shoulder joints, as well the cartilage of the chest, the condition is due to chronic arthritis. The applicant has lateral cervical curvature of the spine, the dorsal vertebras extend forward while the lumbar vertebras extend backward. The applicant is very much emaciated? and week which with the above conditions renders him totally unable to do manual labor. " Another affidavit from Dr. G. W. Herod states that "John suffered from Spinal Meningitis at the age of 16 which resulted in curvature of the spine and finally in anchilosis holding him bent forward about 45 degrees rendering him incapable of manual labor and totally illiterate without resources to maintain himself." Other affidavits contained in this file from John's brother and sisters and other relatives attesting to the fact that he cannot work. One affidavit states he has a surviving brother that is deaf and a surviving sister that is blind. There is no mention of a wife in these papers concerning John. Gary, the only Ezekiel Jenkins (b.Apr. 15, 1853 John's brother) I have besides John Alexanders brother is Ezekiel Walker Jenkins b. Nov. 26, 1879 d. Dec 26, 1922 married May 2, 1906 to Fannie B. Kemp (No dates or parents for her).Ezekial Walker Jenkins was son of William Chesley "Bill Sam" Jenkins & Jane Boston. Mary Knight Mary (& others).....
