The Smith Reunion Book states that the first Hiett record was that of John Hiett, Sr., born 1795. His wife name was Cynthia, born in Tenn. John was from Virginia. John and Cynthia were parents of son Joseph Hiett b 1824 (Joseph md Sarah Sloan;) Joseph & Sarah also had a son they named Joseph Pickett Hiett b in Macon Co. 30 Nov 1852 and married Bettie Beasley; Joseph & Bettie had 15 children. There are still many Hiett family in Smith Co. Hopefully some of them will see this email search. Does this help? Any information that would help me with the date the family came to Smith Co. or the maiden name of Cynthia Hiatt/ Hiett would be very much appreciated. My goal is to find the exact location today of William Arnett's farm [1832-1853]. I've narrowed it down to about one-half mile area on Little Peyton Creek after studying about 100 deeds in that area. Key farms near him are the Porters, Andersans adjacent, B.P Lipscomb and Ballows just to the southeast. I've collected information on about 50 of his neighbors and fellow church members--Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Just keep me in mind if you find any detailed information on exact farm locations in that region other than what we have on the Smith County TN GEN web site. 3. Hello Melba, Thanks for the help. I had that but still appreciate the help. I have been to Lafayette, TN with my husband but, as always, time was limited and we did not get to sightsee. Thanks again. Sincerely, Jean Hiett sjhiett@sbcglobal.net
