Gary, Though I have been told by elders who grew up in Smith co. that there is a connection to the Boston family, not sure that would be the one. The reason you found no Smith co census prior to 1900 is because George Richard and Martha Elizabeth migrated via make shift house boat from Clay co. down the Cumberland river to Smith co. between 1890 and 1900.
