I am looking for anyone with information about my Williams family that was in Dixon Springs in the mid 19th century. A. W. (Anderson) Williams b. ca 1811 in Virginia was married to Sarah A. (?) ca 1836. Their oldest son, Thomas Arthur Williams was born in Mississippi (where they were on the 1840 census). By 1850, they were in Franklin Co., IL, and they must have been there since almost 1840 because the other children born by that time were all born in IL. By 1860, they were in Dixon Springs, Smith County, TN where A.W. owned a mill. During the Civil War, the 2nd and 3rd oldest sons were killed or died by other means. In 1870 the family is still in Dixon Springs. In 1880 the family had relocated to Weatherford, Parker County, TX. Sarah (A.W.'s wife) was there with the children, but A.W. is not. She is buried in Weatherford, but he is not. I assume that he died in Tennessee, but I can't prove it. Here is the thing. There were two A.W. Williams about the same age living in Smith County at the same time. There were two Anderson Williams at the same time, but I don't know that they were both A.W.'s. The othere A.W. Williams I believe was from North Carolina, whereas mine was from Virginia. Any help with this man and his family will be greatly appreciated. Martha
