I have been studying the land deeds centered on the West fork of Peyton Creek area [along the Little Creek Road] northwest of Pleasant Shade--to the Peyton Creek area to the east and west to Dixon Creek and south to the junction of Peyton Creek and the West fork of Peyton's Creek [also known as Little Peyton Creek]. My goal is to find the exact location today of William Arnett's farm [1832-1853]. I've narrowed it down to about one-half mile area on Little Peyton Creek after studying about 100 deeds in that area. Key farms near him are the Porters, Andersans adjacent, B.P Lipscomb and Ballows just to the southeast. I've collected information on about 50 of his neighbors and fellow church members--Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Just keep me in mind if you find any detailed information on exact farm locations in that region other than what we have on the Smith County TN GEN web site. Best, Rob Arnett
Hello, Although I have not been in the area, I believe that the Hiatt/Hiett family lived in Pleasant Shade. Any information that would help me with the date the family came to Smith Co. or the maiden name of Cynthia Hiatt/ Hiett would be very much appreciated.
