    3. Ray Spence Boston died June 24, 2003 in Greenbrier, Tennessee. His wife is Polly Blyth Farrar. Ray's parents were William Pickering Boston (b 1894 - d 1955), and Mary Annie Hesson (b 1897 - d 1937). Ray's grandparents were Jacob Boston (b 1873 - d 1941) and Margaret Evelyn Hesson (b 1868 - d 1953). Ray's great grandparents were George Boston and Matilda Parkhurst. They had a son Christian Boston who married Margaret Evelyn Hesson and Martha Hesson. Ray shows that Christian and Martha Hesson Boston had children: Stirling, Minnie Bell, and Alice. He doesn't show any children for Margaret Evelyn Hesson and Christian, although they could have had some. All the above information Ray passed on to me before he died. I am from the Hesson side of the family. Nancy Hunt On Thursday, July 14, 2005, at 05:36 PM, Mary Knight wrote: > Ok, Boston researchers I need help here. > > I have (no parents) Minne B. 3. Nancy, I know that Ray believed Jacob was George and Matilda's son and I didn't get this information until after Ray died so I didn't have a chance to discuss it with him. Apparently around Aug 26 1889 there was a suit concerning the heirs of George Boston which contains a deposition by D. C. Boston where he testified that "My father had three sons, George, David Crockett, and Christian Boston. George is dead; died leaving one son - he is dead." This would appear to indicate that Jacob was not George's son. Also Stirling and Minnie were listed as Jacob's cousins in 1900 census. If Jacob were brother of Christian (and these were Christian's children) they should be listed as nephew and niece. By being listed as cousins this would indicate to me that they were children of a sibling of Jacob's parent. Has anyone ever seen a copy of Jacob's death certificate? Which may or may not give the correct parents! :-) Mary Knight Ray Spence Boston died June 24, 2003 in Greenbrier, Tennessee. His wife is Polly Blyth Farrar. 3. Mary - The 1880 Smith County Census shows that Jacob's father was George Boston, born in 1814. I think this George was the son of the George who was born in 1793/1794 in North Carolina and moved to Smith County, Tennessee. I think there was a generation missing in Ray's information. Could the suit that D. C. Boston is involved in be a suit concerning the George who was born in 1793/1794? 1880 Smith County, Tennessee, US Census George Boston - Head of Household - 66 years old - Miller - born in TN - Father born in NC - Mother born in VA Matilda - Wife - 53 years old - House keeping - born in TN - Father born in TN - Mother born in VA Sallie J. ? - daughter - 44 years old - born in Tennessee Mary ? - granddaugher - 19 years old - born in Tennessee Christian - Son - 16 years old - born in Tennessee Jacob - Son - 6 years old - born in Tennessee A. Jenkins - 19 years old - Hireling - born in Tennessee (There is a David Boston - 32 yeas old - living next door, who I think is George’s son.) George must have been married twice because he had a daughter who was too old to be the daughter of his wife.
