    3. Melba, your post is very interesting even without my ancestral names included. Culpepper was a meeting place for wagon trains moving west. It is said that people left messages for following families on a BB board on the front of a local store. A full story of that meeting place in Culpepper would be very interesting. Smith County, TN is where my Owen family lived and I'm trying to push their travels to the west backward to see where they came from. Family story is Virginia for both Owen and Rutledge. They may have all came down the Cumberland trail.
