    3. but just because they came from Virginia, they still might be in there. Peter Turney Jr is mentioned - land assigned to Mary Allen - and he was out of Shenandoah Co Va about 1774 to eastern TN. He is documented as being at Battle of Point Pleasant 1774 and also Dec 1780 at Boyd's Creek.....possible he was a foot soldier at King's Mountain in Oct 1780....in other words, his Rev War service was for militia out of what became TN but was NC at the time. So being from VA does not mean he would not have gotten a NC land grant for Rev War service. If a man was already IN Tn during Rev War and served (even if from somewhere else such as VA, MD, etc.) he would have gotten a NC land grant for Rev War. Just depends on when he was where......
