I'm new here! Just wanted to sign on and let everyone know I am researching the Smith Co., Tennessee families of William HAYNIE Sr (the Rev War soldier), Samuel EVETTS, and the FOLEY line that married into the Evetts family. I descend from William Haynie's daughter, Susannah. Pamela Stephenson [email protected]
Hi Pamela! Well, I looked up all 3 of those surnames and don't have any of them, unfortunately. Good to "see" you, though! I guess my big Smith Co. names are Manning, Taylor, Beal, Highers, Haynes, Hill, Glasgow, and Miller. Especially looking for Joseph Glasgow "Jodie" Beal. This is my husband's side, and Jodie was his great-grandpa who disappeared in about 1935 or so. Welcome again, Leslie :) in very rainy northeast Kansas -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Pamela S Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2008 7:53 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [TNSMITH] Surnames HAYNIE, EVETTS, FOLEY I'm new here! Hi Pamela...Glad to have you aboard... I'm not directly?related to any of this bunch, I don't think, but have a little bit in my HUGE database...I show William Haynie, Sr, b. 1750-1753 in Ireland or Prince William Co., VA...d. 25 Aug 1825 in Smith Co. TN. Married Anne Bradley, 5 June 1774 in Caswell Co., NC., and was the daug of James and Judith (Sanders) Bradley. She was b. c1755 in Caswell Co., NC and d. 10 Feb 1843 in Smith Co., TN. Both are buried in the Haynie Cemetery #314, Key Hollow, North Fork, Across Creek on Gravel Rd, Smith Co., TN. I show 6 children.... 1) Thomas Burton Haynie, b. 11 Mar 1775 in NC.; married Anne Weatherford. 2) Elijah Marcus Haynie, Maj, b. 20 June 1779 in NC; d. 5 Aug 1846; married Clarkey Beasley. 3) Susannah Haynie, b. ca 1780 in NC, married Samuel Evetts. 4) Judith Haynie; no other info 5) James B Haynie, b. ??; d. bef 1826 in Smith Co., TN 6) William Haynie, Jr, b. 1793; d. Smith Co, TN; married Nancy Baker...same cemetery with parents. I show one daughter for Thomas Burton Haynie and that's Elizabeth "Betsy" Haynie who married Milton Haynie, her 1st cousin and then I have family listed for them. I show Elijah Marcus and Clarkey with 13 children....good bit of descendents for this family. I only show the marriage for Susannah and Samuel Evetts; nothing else on Judith; nothing on James B and for William, Jr and his wife, Nancy Baker, one son named James B Haynie and wife Frances Tabb Garrett. My Haynie (or my husbands connection) is thru Maj Edward Bradley Haynie and his wife Clarkey Beasley and their son Edward Bradley "Ned" Haynie and his wife, Elizabeth Payne. They were parents of Clarkey Milldred "Mollie/Millie" Haynie who married as his second wife, Henry Milton Hackett. He and his 3rd wife, Louella Petty were parents of Elizabeth Pearl Hackett who was my husbands grandmother.... I'd love to exchange info with you.... Don't have any of these names in my tree. I am wondering if anyone knows where the best place to get family history in Carthage might be. I am traveling to New England from Colorado and want to see and feel what my grandparents saw and felt when they live in Carthage. I am also planning on stopping in Macon County and do a little digging. I am hoping someone can help me with this dig. I also would like to know if anyone knows of a good place to spend a night or two. Many thanks for any and all help given.
