Just a little family story to go along with this family. My husband's family members tell the story that David Burton, Burkett, and Absalom Reems came from Ireland. They were horse thieves and stowed away on a boat to America. They also had a sister who came to America. Where this story came from or how it got started I have no idea since records indicate their parents were both born in America. I was also told that David Burton went to Grisham Hollow, Burkett to Baxter, and Reems to Crossville. Also Burkett is sometimes spelled Berket and Reems is sometimes spelled Reams in census records. You sometimes get information from family members that is not fact so those things that cannot be proved have to be taken with a grain of salt. It does make an interesting story about the boys though.
