Several of us in the Kemp clan have worked on the Tenn Kemps....here is a little of what I have that may help you...Melba smith Co. Marriages 1830-1881 John Wilson md Della Kemp 11 Oct 1838 - they became the parents of Haywood Ross Wilson (and apparently others that I do not have). Haywood Ross Wilson md Celina B. Wilson (maiden name correct as Wilson) who was da/o of Thomas H. Wilson and Celina unknown re my data. Believe Haywood and Celina md somewhere about 1867...not in the Smith Co. Book...perhaps md in Clay or Jackson. Pace about this? He has been working on a "Kemp Family History" for some years, and the following is a brief excerpt that mentions John Wilson and "Dilley/Della/Delilah": Mary (Polly) (~1810/1822? - ?) [1860 USC/JTN] [1880 USC/NAR] married T. S. (John) Wilson (? - ~1849) per “Cal’s Column” of 17 May 1951. The Smith Co., TN marriage records note Wilson, Jno - Kempe, Della - Oct 11, 1838; Della is likely Mary. [NOTE: The 1860 Jackson Co., TN, shows Dilley, age 35, as the head of the household.] The children of Dilley/Della/Delilah and John Wilson were: My family is also connected to the Kemps of Smith County. Gary very kindly sent me a copy of the entire history he had compiled. Since it's his work, however, I'd rather have you contact him for more. I am trying to locate information about his parents, John Wilson and Delilah Kemp. I believe I found where they were married in Smith County on October 11, 1838 but the spelling of her name was Della. Does anyone have any information on John Wilson or Delilah Kemp? I have not been able to locate any info on either of them. I would really like to know more about each one of them. Jesse is buried close to Red Boiling Springs (not sure what county since the road he is buried on changes several times - it is either Jackson, Macon, or Clay). Based on the census, John Wilson may have died prior to 1850 since Delilah is listed as head of household. Please help as I am stumped and have not been able to go back any further.
